How about Sedrick Ellis, after hearing that he strongly considered LSU even with Dorsey committing. Also, I was pretty bum about a few guys this past recruiting season. Brown, Harris, and TJ Bryant. BTW, this is a damn good thread.
Luther was mentioned but as a prospsect who missed out on LSU because of his actions that caused his offer to get pulled. It still did not stop him from texting the coaches to try to get an offer back. Dont remember much about Robbie Green?
Green never got an offer. His offer from USC was pulled as soon as they saw him in camp, as well. Personally, I'm not sure that Saban would've offered him if he wasn't trying to make inroads into Louisiana.
He was Ole Miss and only Ole Miss from day one. His parents/foster parents were Ole Miss alum and no other Div. I school was ever really a consideration.
From last year, two of the top QB's in the country both strongly considered LSU - Dayne Crist (signed with Notre Dame) & EJ Manuel (Florida St). DC Jefferson was an LSU commit, but decommitted after Jordan Jefferson came on board. He signed with Rutgers. Darron Thomas was also a former LSU commit, an athlete who ended up signing with Oregon as a QB after he was told to look around by our coaching staff. A lot of fans were very high on him. At RB, LSU just missed on Jermaine Thomas (a very underrated 3 star all-pupose back), who signed with Florida St after giving a silent commit to us just a few days before. I think he's going to be a good one. LSU was also a distant third for Darrell Scott, the #1 rated RB in the country who signed with Colorado. Matt Patchan, a 5 star OT, signed with Florida & now looks ready to be a contributor on the DLine after being shot this Spring. JB Shugarts & Matt Brewster both signed with Ohio St after considering LSU. DeAndre Brown, the 5 star WR, stunned everyone & signed with Southern Miss. Arthur Brown was a 5 star LB who chose Miami over LSU & a couple other programs. Despite being their highest rated LB (out of like 6 or 7), he has not been the most impressive this Spring. Brown is one of those guys who's big on highlights but needs to work on all the small parts of his game. If he puts it all together he could be a beast. Marcus Robinson is another LB that chose Miami over LSU & others. Brendan Beal was the other highly rated LB that chose a Florida school over us, but it was UF. TJ Bryant was the highly rated DB that had people guessing all over the place where he would end up. He signed with USC, although vball knew about it before the rest of us. There were a few other DB's in this class too... who can remember? Corey Luiget, a DE/DT, chose Illinois over LSU. He's a good hybrid player, not dominant at either position though. D1 Talent LSU didn't offer: Randall McKay, who signed with Ole Miss but did not qualify & will go JUCO. Sam McGuffie, the great white hope, a RB out of Texas who signed with Michigan. I don't see him being more than an occassional highlight - he's not a back you can build around. Josh Jarboe, despite having us in his final 3, didn't have a committable offer - and now we know why. He was arrested a few months after signing day. Kye Staley, an impressive athlete out of Oklahoma, favored LSU at one point but never had a committable offer. He signed with Oklahoma St. Aundre Dean, a RB out of Houston who liked LSU, signed with UCLA. By the way, here's an update on Crist. http://www.journalgazette.net/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20080621/SPORTS0302/806210314
He's a possession receiver & needs to work on a lot of parts of his game. I don't think he would've fit in very well with Crowton's offense.
