I know they have in the past. I believe Scout is catching up.

I don't follow Bama's recruiting all that closely, so all I have to go off of are the videos & schools listed as having offered.

Look at FSU's recruiting rankings the past few years & their success on the field & tell me their recruits don't look over-rated...

I'm not saying the CEO directly influences the rankings. I don't think he calls up the evaluaters & tells them that they should rate guys higher because they are committed to Bama. It's more like the evaluaters do their jobs without thinking about it, but when it comes time to rank the guys - certain ones get the benefit of the doubt.

I don't remember who it was, but Rivals dropped one of our recruits this year from a 5* to a 4*.

I've seen strides along those lines as well.

I specifically made sure to show earlier that I was not talking about their performance in college, but how they were viewed in HS.

I think you'll find every one of those FSU fans pointing to coaches as well.

It's just my opinion, and I may very well be wrong, but it seems to me you look for ways to devalue the recruits on board right now. Is it an anti-Bama bias? Your sig could be pointed to as a reason to suspect so. It started several months ago with comments about the classes Saban was going to bring in.

You follow recruiting closely and I appreciate some of the insight you bring. But, this anti-Bama, anti-Saban, Rivals bias thing really makes me wonder.

I'd be interested to know who it was if you figure it out.

Again, I'm not saying that Bama's recruits will all be top 100 players regardless of talent, that all of them are overrated, or that they will never fall in the rankings.

The evaluations are still done to evaluate talent. The rankings are going to reflect that. The difference with certain schools (USC, Bama, Texas, Florida St) is that they get the benefit of the doubt with that middle ground where it's a toss up to judge who's really better.

Other programs (like LSU, Georgia, Auburn) get this benefit of the doubt as well because we're good programs that put players into the NFL, but it's not to as large of a degree.

So really, all we're talking about here is a measurement of degree, which is impossible to prove without testimony from some Rivals evaluators because it's otherwise completely subjective to our opinions of where the recruits should have been ranked.

I understand that...and a lot of the evaluations made by these services are made by the camps they hold. Tigerbait3 pointed that out if I recall correctly.

I have to ask. If they are over rated, wouldn't their performance in college be an indication of them being over rated? The ratings are based on how they feel they'll perform on the college level.

As they rightfully should, but honestly, it can't all be one coaching.

I'd say it started right before Saban's first class at Bama was signed.

I have never said that Saban will not bring in talent or that Bama's recruits are not good. Saban is a great recruiter & will bring in talent, but I believe that what he's brought in thus far was over-rated (finished top 5 last year, looked more like a top 15 class to me).

I saw this on another board & thought it was hilarious. Isn't it?

I've said the same thing about USC for quite a while, and I'm one of the few LSU fans that doesn't care one way or the other about that program. I call 'em like I see 'em, and it's got nothing to do with bias.

Not necessarily. Players change. Some don't continue to develop, some get a lot better in a short amount of time, etc.
