I mentioned the other day in another thread that Chavis was at the Patterson game last Friday night. While I'm sure he was taking a long look at Lorenzo Phillips, I'm told that afterward he went in the locker room and spent some time chatting up Landon Lightfoot. He's another linebacker who's probably flying under the recruiting radar. Patterson, btw, could have as many as 7 D-I signees in February.
At this point, still don't see Devall coming here. It's not that he doesn't like LSU. He's a fan actually. But our defense would have him in more Ray Lewis tackling machine mode at MLB, and he'd rather be Demarcus Ware/Clay Matthews playing OLB in a 3-4 getting after the QB. LSU has everything he loves except the scheme. It's a shame because I think he'd make a great MLB. He's playing more in that tackling machine mold now in his senior year, but supposedly hates it. He doesn't want to play DE but would if he had too. I initially thought he was reluctant to play standing up, but he's come to love that aspect.
The williams Kid from Juco/ east st john's...is an absaloute stud!! Coach Deautrieve told me he is the best athlete he has ever coached or been associated with.
LSUDad, you were asking me about Patterson's D-1 recruits. I've heard as many as 7 will go D-1. In addition to Lorenzo Phillips, I'm hearing S Trevon Stewart is committed to Houston, QB Justice Jones is committed to Kansas, and one of the WRs (can't remember the name) is committed to Vanderbilt. Don't have anything on the other 3 at this time.
Thanks for the info, that Ruston team had like 14 players that signed (Not all D-1). I think 8-9 signed D-1. This was just the Sr's. Bobby Wiliams and Rodney Young were two that signed with LSU.
