I really don’t follow recruiting as closely as many of you. I was wondering what some on the board who keep up with recruiting like CParso, etc. think winning the SEC Championship and Coach Miles clarification of LSU’s HC position will have on recruiting. I certainly can’t see that it hurts us, but do you think it is a real boost or help with any recruits? If so, any particulars you might be able to share about any specific recruit?
Miles staying - huge. SEC Champions - big. There were some moments of doubt in a lot of our recruits this past week, I imagine, with all the talk of Miles leaving for Michigan, us not recruiting as hard as other teams due to them not having to game plan this week. With Miles confirming he will come back, recruits know that he'll be here for a long time & that's important to some of them. Further, Miles winning the SEC Championship gets the monkey off his back in the sense that the only knock on him has been his lack of hardware.
To add to the list, LSU is now playing in the National Championship game. To many recruits this isn't a big deal, but for recruits that are up in the air between two or three programs, the team playing for the NC can be a tipping point in our favor. I look for us to finish this class strong, maybe with an unexpected recruit or two on top due to the recent turn of events.
:champs: For c-parso, what affect do you think this will have on Tyler Edwards, if any? I believe he (Edwards) said a few days ago that Coach Miles said he would be his only coach if he came to LSU. I really think Edwards is a key part to this class and would like to see us get him. What about some of the other big-time recruits we're after? Any word on Patchan?
