What if the rules in recruiting where you could only recruit in your state where the university is located. Here is my list of states that would win every year with it changing from year to year...

    1.Florida
    2.Louisiana
    3.Texas
    4.California
    5.Georgia
    6.Oklahoma
    7.Alabama
    8.Pennslyvania
    9.Mississippi
    10.Virginia

    Just a thought:geaux:

Florida, California, Texas then Louisiana....easily. I doubt we'd ever be above those three in that context.

Texas and California would rank ahead of Louisiana because of the much larger number of top ranked prospects. While La. has very good quality we cant get 25 top ranked players every single year in state, some years but not all. Texas, California and Florida produce a ton of top notch prospects each and every year. Per capita we may be number 1 but taking actual numbers into consideration we would fall to 4 IMO.

The only reason why I put Louisiana up there is that those other states are known for a certain kind of player such as Florida-speedy, wr, db, rbs.
    Texas-rb,lb, ol, California-QB,DL.
Louisiana has a bit of all these types of players

Also need to factor in that Cali,Tx and Fla would have to share the talent around a couple of schools whereas LSU would not..

That's cool, it's your story. You may be surprised though. Looking at all of rivals' 5 star players:

Florida has five: 2 OLinemen, one DT, one LB, and another DB.
California has five also: 2 OLinemen, one Ath, one QB, one RB.

Louisiana is "Down" this year but we never put up those kinds of five star players and, as you can see, States aren't exclusive to particular positions. Like Twisted said, it's the numbers that would get us.

I'd also concede that star ratings aren't the end-all criteria but Louisiana only has two kids in the top 100 this year- we got one and probably will get the other but it wouldn't kill us not to either. Now, next year, Louisiana is going to be off the charts.

Yea, I agree with what you are saying....but like you just said the star rating isnt the bible, just a bunch of guys, saying so.
but Louisiana will be loaded with the next 2 classes.

I agree that the states listed put out top talent, but I think Fla, Cali, and Texas need to be 1-2-3 and then I would put Alabama up there then LA. The reason I put AL above LA is consistency. I just think Alabama puts out more top prospects on a consistent basis than Louisiana. Just an opinion of someone that has followed recruiting closely for the past 10 or so years.

Either way you look at it, LSU is in a great spot because the Tigers have LA locked up and cherry pick top talent from TX, AL, and MS every year.
