I have a question for anyone that knows in depth recruiting stuff... Is there a limit to how much money can be spent on a recruit during a weekend official visit? Like, can the school basically just pay for all his meals and stuff while he is there? I was just thinking about how hard it would be to turn down a school if I was on an official visit to USC or Miami and they took me to some five star restaurant in LA or Miami? Which then got me thinking that there had to be some sort of cap on the amount of money spent on recruits or school with deep recruiting budgets could "wine" and dine these athletes at top places??
i think they are either in the process of passing one or just passed it. most of it came because of the willie williams stories on FSU and UM bringing them to get ruth chris's and letting them spend like 1k on food. not positive on the rule though, but i know their was talk of it.
I know they made some changes after the Colorado scandal. They supposedly cut down on how much you can spend on dinners and hotels, but I dunno how much they enforce it.
JV, the University does not really enfore anything. I know illegal things go on every weekend with recruits. It happens at every University.
There is a limit on what can be spent at a restaurant. In fact, there was some discussion, after Willie, that a recruit would have to fed on campus. Now that doesn't mean in the school cafeteria. They can be fed at the training table. Tony
The chef at the Faculty Club is actually pretty damned good. He cooked for Reagan when he stayed on campus. I'll bet he could lay out a spread to rival anybody.
