I'm not worried about it. But it seems correct to me that LSU's football program turned around about the time they started landing most if not all of the in-state talent (I know, USC and McKnight...). I think LSU's pull on in-state guys is key. Would hate to see that suffer.

Maybe 2010 is not looking good, so it doesn't matter as much? I've heard 2010 might not be too good...

We have benefited from this with kids like RJF and PJ. I know most will disagree, but I think its a dangerous move. Of course its great now when you are THE team in college football, but what happens we have a rash of injuries lose more games than we thought, and don't have the prestige we now enjoy. We've won 2 national championships in 5 years by focusing in state and grabbing a few texas, miss, bama, and florida kids. So, obviously that strategy can put enough talent on the field to win it all. So why focus more out of state now? If you always take the state kid first, those kids will still come during the down years.

Personally, it worries me. I don't think its good for long-term success. Of course, we could win 10 games a year forever and it will never be a problem. But I was at LSU during the Dinardo era until the 1st year of Saban, and I know Louisiana kids is what built this program up, and I think we should stick with our roots and our state as much as we can.

I agree with the previous 2 posts. We better take care of our own first. We may be better off taking a kid with 95% of the talent of an out of state, to preserve the partnership with our instate kids and HS coaches. Sometimes an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure... Gotta keep that wall up around the state...

LSU recruits Louisiana first. Miles & staff know how important our relationships are in this state, and work very hard to maintain them.

Our recruiting classes are going to continue to be >50% Louisiana kids.

For LSU to stay on top, we need to consistently recruit well both in & out of state.
