One year is not a trend.

Be happy Florida, FSU, and Miami are no longer raiding Louisiana for talent like they did for the entire decade of the 90's. Every top player out of New Orleans went to a Florida school for years until Nick and Les put a stop to it. Even Warrick Dunn out of Baton Rouge went east.

Based on what I have seen so far concerning interest from 2010 Florida prospects, nothing has changed.

We will target guys from Florida and they still have interest. One year or 2 years of not landing one is not a big concern.

yes shaw is from florida and I'm real excited about him...
Remember Peterson was the #1 CB coming out of highschool and I believe the top player in Florida. One year will not hurt. We have youngbloods like Baker Peterson Shaw Hatcher etc

Lane was a great recruiter for us in Florida. I'm not sure who will take over that area now, but I am a little concerned about it.

Considering the class we just got, I don't particularly care that none were from Florida.

Give Dinardo at least some credit, he was the one who really put a stop to it. He didn't get Dunn of course, but I don't blame Warrick at all for wanting to get away from here, given the tragedy with his mother and all. But as I recall, Dinardo made great strides in in-state recruiting.

Obviously not to the level that Saban did but the cupboard was beginning to fill up before that.

:geaux: I don't think not getting a Fla. kid this year is the start of a pattern or anything. We just missed out on them this year and will be in on several of them again next year and get our share. Even though we didn't get anyone from Fla. this year, I think getting Calhoun and Minter out of Ga. and the big FB out of Tennessee makes up for that. We've made some inroads into Ga. in the last few years and have gotten some kids we never would've got just a few years ago. That helps out in the overall scheme of things. Les will still hit Fla. hard each year though. As previous posts mentioned we'll lock up La., hit east Texas/Houston hard along with MS and the area within about 5 - 6 hours drive from Baton Rouge. I'd like to see LSU grab a kid or two out of Mobile again but it will be tough as Saban is trying to lock it up there. But as Red said earlier, as long as we don't see other schools consistently raiding La. as in the 90's we'll be OK. :LSU231:

what i dont understand is why we dont recruit the D/FW area harder. There are so many kids there that we should be going after, arlington, fort worth, irving, dallas, mid cities (especially euless trinity).
