He got hurt in the fall of his freshman year, not the spring. He was said to be pushing Devery for his starting spot as an entering freshman in fall practice.
Not quite bust status. Mainly because he wasn't that highly regarded (a 4 star but I don't think he was top 250 on rivals) and he has at least made it on the field at times. Al Woods would be closer to a bust at this point because I think he was certainly top 250 and maybe top 100.
I think I said Amp Lee and meant Amp Hill - I am sure most figured that out. Wasn't there an Amp Lee, too? Kinda like all of the DeBose, DeAngelo's and DeAndre's - it gets frickin confusing sometimes.
People were saying James would be the next Charles Woodson. Saban ended up kicking him off the team. Another big bust from that time was Brad Smalling, a very highly touted OL recruit from West Monroe High.
Lavelle Hawkins was the WR from California who left after a day or so. He went to Cal and had a good career.
I never bought into the RJF-is-the-next-Dorsey hype that I saw a lot of people claiming in the preseason. In all the preseason break-downs of LSU from the national media, and in all the preseason discussions on LSU boards, the only thing anybody could say about RJF was that he had one big game. I can't get excited about someone being great just off one game.
