I'm pretty sure RWilliams is referring to losing in Nov this year. We were out of it in 2007 until everyone else starting losing also. AND we won our division and the SECCG that year. Took all of those factors to get into the NC game.
We didn't play bama again in '07. We won the sec that year. If we would have lost to bama this last game do you think that the voters or espn would give us a rematch? They would say that we lost to bama and didn't win our divison so we don't deserve to play in the championship game. We would be lucky to go to the sugarbowl. We would most likely be playing in the cap one or cotton bowl. There would be no way in hell that we would be playing bama in a rematch. Hell, the way the media disrespects us, if we lose to ga they will try and send us to the cotton bowl and bama and okie state to the bcs cg. You know it's true.
OK, so they're not going to win the conference. WHO CARES? They're #2 in the country, and they deserve it! Wasn't the BCS set up to put the best two teams in the country against each other in the NC? If Alabama and LSU weren't in the same conference, much less division, Alabama would win their conference easily. They're #2, going to the NC and there's nothing we can do about it. So suck it up and wait for January 9 when LSU meets Alabama in the NC. P.S. They lost to the #1 team in the country by 3 points in OT.
Alabama is showing us that if they can't WIN the national championship, then they can WHINE the national championship.
I don't blame any bama fan for coming on here and being all giddy. They have absolutely nothing to lose in a rematch. They will put NOTHING on the line in the game. LSU will be putting everything on the line and has everything to lose. If the rematch happens, we'll have to chalk this up to the peculiarities of the BCS system. Someone posted some early odds from Wynn LV at Tigers -1.5. Bama was favored for 3.5 to 4.5 in Tuscaloosa.
They are number 2 now, but I do not believe that they deserve to be number 2 if OKST wins. Here is why: 1. SOS, OKST top 6, Bama 31 (this depends on which one you use) 2. Losses: Bama at home, one OT, OKST away, double OT 3. OKST had a university tragedy 4. OKST plays in the toughest rated conference based on the objective cpu's 5. Wins: OKST 7 wins against teams with winning records, Bama 4 6. OKST conference champs 7. Bama did not win the SECW edited to add number 8: I found another one I like, using Sagarin as the source: USATODAY.com VS the top 30: Bama 2-1 OKST 6-1
Theoretically. It actually is designed to let the #1 and #2 ranked teams play each other for the NC rather than the old bowl system where #1 and #2 would not usually meet. #1 and #2 doesn't necessarily translate into the best two teams. This year it does but there is one more team that is deserving of being in the conversation and that is OSU. If they beat OU they will win the Big 12 which is considered by some to be stronger than the SEC this year. If the Okie's win next week, they should be #2 based on strength of schedule and winning their conference. If OU wins, Bama should get a rematch in the NCG based on being the best one loss team in the country.
