Hopefully the human voters will think about these reasons Alabama should not get a do over.

    1. Alabama had their shot. At home no less. Stick a fork in them. Buh-bye.

    2. One reason the college football Powers That Be say we cannot have a playoff system is that it would undermine the regular season. Under the current BCS system every regular season game means something and every game down the stretch is supposedly a playoff game. Oh? Well Alabama lost their playoff game. They are done. Great team. Probably the second best in the country (even though a high school team just got 300 yards rushing on them). But they are done. Note that this Bama team is a much older team than LSU, but the younger team won, on the road. Bama had their shot.

    3. A rematch would only be fair if it was 2 out of 3. If two teams play twice and split 1-1, how can you crown one a champ?

    4. If Alabama does not win the SEC championship game, why should they play for the NC?

    5. LSU would have to play a nothing to lose Georgia in the SEC title game, while Alabama gets a pass straight to the NCG? Are you serious? Shouldnt it be the team with the lesser record that has to jump through extra hoops to get the the championship?

    6. Most of the country would rather see a new team get a crack at LSU. Give some other contender their chance to prove they can take an elite SEC team down.

If we see any funny stuff in the polls these next two weeks, it may signify that the voters are trying to avoid a rematch.

ps 3 PAC10 teams in the top 10? Seriously? How about this. LSU plays the #1 PAC 10 team, Alabama the #2, Arkansas the #3.

Yep, sucks that they might play one less game. That said, they are the 2nd best team in the country. Bring em on.

BTW, where was all of this indignation when we had 2 losses and got in over other 1 loss teams? People, we are the best team in the country. Just think how crazy Bama is gonna be when we beat them twice in one year. If we are the best, we should want to play them again.

Most of you who are arguing against playing Bama are just afraid they will beat us and are looking for an easier team to play.

Honestly, I don't care beating them again in New Orleans, and I feel like this time the game won't be that close.

Its a question of fairness. Some of us are sticklers for that.

Actually Bama would probably be tight for the rematch. Other teams would be heavy underdogs and come in with a nothing to lose attitude, which can be dangerous for the favorite. I thought LSU would beat Alabama handily the first time around but hadnt anticipated such a poor game from JL. LSU wins any rematch by double digits.

So did you question the fairness of us getting in in 2007? It's a fluke that they will get to rest an extra game, but they also have to hope other teams cooperate for them to be in. We get to rest 4 weeks, that is almost too long. I think it can work to our advantage to have that extra game.

What was unfair about that? Was a better team passed over?

We beat Bama in Bama. Doesnt get any better than that. Now I'd much rather LSU pummel an Oklahoma (I'm still sick of the old "Bob Stoops" is a genius crap from a decade ago). Or Stanford and Luck. Too damn bad USC isnt in the mix; nothing would be sweeter than exposing them. Or Boise St. I've heard enough whining from their fans about how the BCS screws them. Even Houston would be interesting. Or hell, lets pull out all the stops and put together an All-Star team from any other conference and let them play the Tigers. Not to be cocky, buts lets see something new, some good entertainment and some put up or shut up action from the SEC haters.

    Bama? Been there, done that.

Wouldn't a better team be getting passed over if Bama doesn't get in? It makes no difference that we have already played them. They are number 2. The BCSNC is supposed to be 1 vs 2.

I live in Birmingham. After the series of events that occurred this weekend, I have never seen a collective group have such an attitude change. Alabama fans have been dreary since Nov 5. They are walking 2 inches of the ground right now. Cant tell you how many times I've heard "The better team didn't win that game" or "clearly, alabama was the better team". Jokingly, I tell them to get used to how the number "2" feels. I hope we make it through unscathed and we are lining up against the Tide on Jan 9.

Dude, we got it the 5th thread you said it in. Remember that particular thread you started about LSU making men cry? Bama's making you cry.

Puh-leeeze. :rolleye33: Your question has nothing to do whatsoever with the OP's topic.

And if fairness had anything to do with CFB, LSU wouldn't have been playing for any championship while carrying 2 losses. I attended two of LSU's games that season, and watched most of the remaining games on TV. That team definitely passed the eye test, and they had some spectacular playmaking at times that season, but in fairness they didn't measure up to this years squad, IMO. (or to this year's alabama team either)

Selecting a champ isn't about fairness, it's about clout and the ability to deliver the popular vote when it comes to commercial television. (And right now, LSU is very hot)

Anyway, back to the OP .... ravnav, your post was intelligent, articulate, and well thought out. I also think your thoughts are shared by most CFB fans outside of the state of alabama. Good job.
