our OOC scheduling is a joke even WITH florida on the ballot every year. We appear to be trying to better it, but its looking like a slow process. no excuse or if we had lets say Florida, UK, and carolina, we could play someone like VaTech. No reason that can't be done every year. When we end up with UF and UGA or Tenn, step down a notch from Va Tech type to a Maryland/N.C. State type of opponent. I think the OOC scheduling would get better without UF on there every year. But I don't think they would step up high enough to replace what Florida brings to our schedule on a yearly basis.
Remember we initially played Florida and Kentucky every year. I don't know how far back the Kentucky game goes, but I think it went back a number of years. When the SEC dropped to 1 permanent opponent from the other division, we dropped Kentucky. ldskule:
Drop Tulane and play no more than one in-state opponent each year. Let's play more Pac-1 teams. 2006 Arizona 45-3 Win 2005 Arizona 35-31 Win 2004 Oregon State 22-21 Win 2003 Arizona 59-13 Win 1984 Arizona 27-26 Win 1984 USC 23-3 Win 1983 Washington 40-14 Win 1982 Oregon State 45-7 Win 1981 Oregon State 27-24 Win
I generally agree with that and didn't really realize, until I just looked it up, that this year  plays Tulane, USeLess, and La. Tech. all in the same year. When Skipper started scheduling the in-state schools I thought it was a good idea to generate more in-state interest in the LSU! program. But now, with the :crystal::crystal: this decade, I think in-state interest is about as high as it could be. And Tulane, well, it used to be a rivalry back at the edge of my memory in the early 70s but as fewer and fewer :laflagwav students attended the school most of the folks there didn't know anything about the :lsup:/Tulane rivalry and couldn't have cared less.
a) Florida fans are great in comparison to UT, USC, Vandy, and KY fans... UGA fans are okay, but so long as those Florida girls come to town every other year, sign me up for the rivalry. b) Gainseville is a fun trip and they accomodate pretty well in my experience. c) It's actually becoming the most important game of the season every single year. One of it's participants have won 4 of the last 6 national championships, including the game's winner over the past 3 seasons. d) That game gets such exposure that it's a great recruiting tool and I'd be willing to bet that more than a couple of signing day victories were decided by that game. e) Urban meyer is a jerk. f) We get a reason to cook gator every year. g) There's no stupid trophy. h) They're easily the most talented teams in the conference over the past 8 or so years. i) They don't play rocky top j) Spurrier's not there k) their stadium's bigger than KY, SC, and vandy so it makes an equal atmosphere for both teams in the home-home series. l) We get to see "Bayou Bengals to invade Swamp" every two years in the paper. m) I'm running out of things to say about the rivalry n) jorts photochops and jokes re-appear every year o) Again, have you ever seen UF's girls?
not to mention it'd have been pretty silly to break up bama-ut and auburn-uga... I don't question many of the things the SEC does these days... They've got it figured out better than anyone... The Sec championship game is great, the way we do our tie breaker is excellent, and we have the best atmoshpere of any conference in the history of anything ever.
