teams that are ranked number 1 throughout the season like USC, Ohio State, Miami and all the other teams that have had to play a season or seasons with the bullseye on their back. To watch teams put their whole season into beating you makes me think about our victory over Florida several years back. Yes, Kansas is a good team, but they still did not have the emotions that are faced by OU. To make it thru the season as a top 5 team and the number 1 ranked team for several weeks makes me very impressed. This tiger team had a bullseye on it, the 03 tigers did not. We are surviving a tough stretch. We cannot match the emotion of every team we play, but we win. These guys are so level headed, it blows me away. I am impressed with our coaches, players and fans. Hopefully, we can survive this week, then I am sure that we will match the emotion of UGA or UT in the SECCG. Hopefully, these guys will have the opportunity of a lifetime to play for a national championship. To steal a Saints slogan "Bless You Boys".
That is a great post! It is also something I've been trying to tell everyone who's been talking trash about LSU. It's tough to play with a bullseye on you all the time. Especially with a tough schedule. People keep talking about our "unimpressive win" against Ole Piss, but I think it was one of our better played games all season. Consider that coach O prepared for this game since that Sunday morning after Ole Piss hung around and took us to overtime--in OUR house last season. What about B. Shaeffer just absolutely going crazy on the ground and in the air? He was a difference maker in that game. LSU game planned for S. Adams, and it was painfully obvious. Ole Miss played their hearts out and we still blow them out. In their house. A team that ALWAYS plays us close. I can't figure out why everyone is so down on the performance. :LSU231:
Defense gave up a lot of yards (LSU was outgained). Miss. got the ball inside the LSU 5-yard-line twice and failed to score. Their WRs seemed to be open an awful lot, when they weren't being interfered with by our DBs. You may call it a blowout, but the death blow wasn't delivered until late in the 4th. These are the reasons people aren't exactly thrilled with the game. All of that being said, it's tough to avoid upsets and if the Tigers can do it just two more times......I'll see y'all in NOLA.
Well, keep this tween us but sometimes I post on a USC forum  and I used to hear USC fans say that a lot and thought it was a crock but have seen, this year ever so clearly, how that does spark so much more motivation.
I can look for negatives in any game, but to ignore the positives isn't too enjoyable to me. Should LSU have blown Ole Miss out? Technically, yes, but it hasn't happened all season. LSU has its own style and it's frustrating, but hey, they actually won a game by more than a TD. If BS doesn't get the PT that he does, it's a complete wash.
It's positives you want? Fiiiine Trindon Holliday. Matt Flynn threw zero INTs. We finally used Williams, Murphy, Scott, Hester and Holliday in the backfield effectively in the same game. LOVE the screen passes! Can't recall one dumb penalty.
Look, I wasn't trying to start an argument here. I watched the game and honestly thought we did a better job than we've been doing the last few weeks. That's all. I can point out all of the negativity in the game, but hell, I'm just trying to enjoy an LSU game for once. :yelwink2:
