My realizations (not original thoughts, I'm sure)... Some teams have growing pains early in the season, and often lose one or more games due to mistakes that they wouldn't make later in the season. The team grows from that, leading to a great rest of the season. Well, I think that LSU had had their "loss" against Tennessee, and the beauty of that loss is that it's in the win column! That's really the best type of loss to have. The opposite of a moral victory - a "moral loss", or a "coulda/woulda/shoulda been a loss"?. The team rallied around their coaches and themselves, and they played much better against Florida, a more challenging opponent than Tennessee - only 6 penalties, fewer bone-headed mistakes, etc. So it may have taken this LSU team 6 games to figure a few important things out, but I think that they have figured things out (as I see things through my purple and gold glasses), and I predict that the second half of the season will be a great thing to watch for LSU fans.
yeah i've learned it's the same fans that think we'll replace miles with bill cowher as HC, gruden as OC, and del rio at DC.
I agree...take the good with the bad. He infuriates me one second then impresses me the next. Never a dull moment... And more than that, stability at the HC position is great for a program. We're lucky we have a winner like him that puts up with us. Of course, for 4 million a year, you could dig up my great-grandmother and re-bury her upside-down in protest and I'd just smile and take a trip to the bank for some "walking around money".
Emotions work both ways. While it's important not to think that the sky is falling after a shaky outing (TN), it's also important not to get too high after a solid one (FL). We looked unbeatable after the VT game in 2007. So there is nothing that says we can't slip-up this year. The good news is that we don't seem to have peaked just yet.
Yes. Be careful what you wish for. LSU went through a couple of decades of trying coaches for 5 years each and needing to move on each time. Hate to do that again.
My realizations: We have a strong football team with a tough schedule remaining. We could still end up 9-3 but I doubt it. We'll crack 10 wins or more. Miles has recruited really well and (if my count is right) there are 11 players that are receiving significant playing time on this team that will not be back next year: Jasper Helton Barksdale Tolliver Murphey P. Peterson Nevis Levinston Francois Eugene K. Sheppard The rest of this team will return next year. Not trying to get ahead of ourselves, but it looks like we may have 2 shots at winning something special. P.S. I'm sticking with CLM. GEAUX TIGERS!
