Since you wanna talk about Miles' record, why didn't you put his record up since getting embarrassed in the 2011 NC game? 13-10, possibly 13-11 after this Saturday in SEC games the last 3 years. 1-6 in Nov/Dec the last 2 years, possibly 1-7. Also let's talk about his in-game coaching. The brilliant game planning, the brilliant clock management, the brilliant development of QBs, and the stern disciplinarian he his for having teams never make stupid mistakes over and over and over again. Please shed some light on that too...
This. Add to that... Most of the losses are tougher teams at mid-to end of season, and the easier teams to beat, many of the wins are getting too close. We shouldn't be struggling against a lot of those early in the season, which seems to be the "norm" with LSU games the last couple of years. I've pumped the sunshine in the past here in regards to Les. But I've seen enough to know it isn't getting any better. We're on a downhill slope. A change is going to hurt (it always does). Better to RIP the bandaid off and get started now.
I go back and forth -- one minute, I'm ready for a change realizing that it's a gamble. The next minute, I think (probably more like hope) he'll get the message this time and change. At the end of the day, I don't want to live through another season of not living up to our potential. The frustration of watching the team disintegrate on the backside of the season is just no fun. I believe Miles was a good coach until his manhood was stolen in the 2011 NCG. We replaced a good coach with a good coach then and we can again.
Two take home messages from this whole debacle. 1. DON'T AIR DIRTY LAUNDRY IN PUBLIC. 2. Don't get played by agents to get their clients a raise. If a coach is one of the top paid in the country and his agent demands a raise to keep him from leaving, then let him go. No more 15 million buyouts. If they want to leave for money, then screw them. Some say Les has made 50 million while at LSU? That's just an obscene indictment of modern society.
LSU hasn't won a game since Oct. 24th. Since Oct. 17th for an SEC win. Sept. 19th since a win over an SEC West opponent. Go ahead and sign those divorce papers. Les can keep the house and cars. We still get to keep the cat.
It's all relative. Some big star actors get that much for one movie. A head coach is the CEO of a sports entertainment business that brings in well over $100 million a year. By those standards coaches are underpaid compared to CEOs running comparable sized corporations. Yes, teachers, police, firefighters and others are underpaid. I enough people wanted to watch an English or math class being taught the networks would be there with their cameras and their money. Would you watch? I didn't think so.
Entertainer salaries are also an indictment on USA 2015. Our ancestors would never have tolerated that. In feudal Japanese society, entertainers were near the bottom of the social hierarchy. Not so long ago Reagan was thought to be unelectable because he was "just an actor." New Orleans can't afford enough cops, LSU is in financial crisis, yet we pay entertainers tens of millions. Should any University be paying entertainers tens of millions? 50 million would pay for a lot of cops and teachers. Many CEO salaries aren't defensible either. Is football any more fun to watch than 30 years ago when the coach made ten-fold less? Maybe I should throw my hat into the HC vacancy ring. How hard can it be? I've already got my offense figured out...1st down, give the ball to #7. 2nd down, mix it up, Williams up the middle. 3rd down , enough mixing it up, handoff to #7. Easy money baby.
