The Bryant Heritage scholarship does count against the 85 if they ever play in a game. I think they use it more for legacy guys that just want to letter because their dad did and aren't good enough to see the field. They're part of the team, technically, but they don't count.
Thanks for the clarification. Makes perfect sense. I think where this helps them is a player like the one that got hurt for LSU and was physically unable to play (his career deemed over, Delvin Breaux I think it was) and Bama could still honor him with a scholarship but not take away from the 85.
LSU has a similar program for players that will never see the field at LSU. It's called the University of Louisiana System. :thumb:
Happy now ? Coach:Trent Richardson still solid for Tide Posted by Doug Segrest -- The Birmingham News January 30, 2009 12:55 PM "My gut feeling is that he's going to Alabama," Nichols said. "He hasn't told me that for sure. He liked LSU. He liked Florida. But I believe he's going to Alabama. That's just my opinion." http://blog.al.com/segrest/2009/01/coach_believes_trent_richardso.html
