This might be a stupid question but whats to stop a booster from creating a foundation and giving scolarships to players like Barrett Bailey and Josh Johns who couldn't get a football scholarship because of a numbers situation but could be perferred walk-ons? I guess it wouldn't be an issue with LSU because of TOPS, but say tuition was like $35k/year at say Miami or Standford? In a year with limited scholarships you could conceivably get as many kids as you wanted, getting them academic scholarships through boosters and a perfferred walk-on status right?
Bama has a special scholarship that they award each year, can't remember the name of it (probably Paul Bear Bryant Scholarship). Does that count against the 85?
Its just like an academic scholarship. People are infatuated by this for reasons that I cant understand. Same could be said with the school in general but that's another story... It would count as a football scholarship.
