I'm not saying that UF is out of it because of their scheme - it is just something that they have to overcome in order to land him, IMO.

LSU runs a very versatile offense under Crowton. He run traditional sets, spread sets, spread-option - whatever works in given situations. We don't have any one "scheme".

Yeah but if scheme is the issue the winner in this contest for a great runner is Bama not LSU or Florida.

I'm not saying that scheme is the sole issue that he will make his decision based on. I'm saying that scheme is one of many issues he will take into consideration, and while Bama may be best - Florida is definitely 3rd.

Agreed. That was the point I was making in my first post. But you said they would have to overcome scheme. For Richardson it may not be an issue. If scheme is his major concern he'll be playing for the Tide.

We don't really run a particular scheme or system. We're very versatile in that regard. In fact, contrary to the previous assertion that we're a pass-first offense, Crowton's offenses at LSU have been very well-balanced. He uses the running and passing games together to each open up the other one. He runs multiple types of formations, including the spread, the shotgun, the pistol, the power-I, wildtigercathogrebelfag and so on. Dude is all over the place.

Personally, I'm thankful that LSU hasn't hired coaches who are committed to and defined by a system. Systems come and they go, but the basic strategies and tried and true methods of the game stick around. And the problem is, you typically have to have certain 'types of players' to run these schemes, so you limit yourself in the long run. What happens when one of these spread coaches leaves his team, who then hires a coach trying to run a traditional scheme with 250lb offensive lineman? They all get figured out and adjusted to in the end. It's just a matter of time.

:geaux: I would think that LSU's offensive scheme's are just as

advantageous for a great running back to excel when compared to 'Bama.

LSU runs the ball extremely well and Crowton will always incorporate a

strong running game in his offense to compliment his passing game. TR

would excel in Crowton's offense just as much as he would at Alabama,

IMO. LSU's offense is more versatile and explosive and Miles/Crowton

don't hesitate to let the running backs run wild and pound the ball when

that part of the offense is really clicking. TR would be successful here

and he knows it. It will all come down to where he is most comfortable. :LSU231:

A guy over at GSMB claims to have talked to Escambia HC Derrick Boyd today after the UF visit to Trent...

    he says:

Now I can't guarantee he has, but I believe he's said a couple times that he's from the Pensacola area, so he could be legit. Take it with a grain of salt.

He ain't going to UF, its Bama or LSU.

Also, watching Bama, and UF struggle to get there running game established during there bowl games probably doesn't help there cases.

I feel that if.. the rumors are true about his mother living in Louisiana.. that we're at worst 35-35-30 (Bama, UF, LSU).

That's simply speculation.. I have no idea the type of relationship he has with his mother. The other factor is his brother.. whom he apparently has great respect for.

If we're behind at all -- I don't think it's much. I think he'll end up at Bama in the end.. but hell, it wouldn't be the first time i've been shocked.

EDIT: Petey Smith reportedly commited to Bama. They had to have missed out on someone.. probably Kelly? (Clemson).
