It's quite simple. Is the statement negative or positive? It doesn't matter that it really happened or he is just stating the truth.

If your girlfriend treats you like crap or runs around on you and you proclaim it to the world(because it's a fact right?), and then you marry her anyway, what will your friends think of her? They will view her in a negative light. Point being, your problems with how she treated you are between you and her, if you plan on keeping her. The same goes for Lacy and LSU. If he has a problem with LSU's recruitment of him but still wants to come here, he might want to keep it between him and the coaches, and not in the public forum.

You can disagree with me if you like, but I stand by my statement that he should keep his mouth shut if he wants to come here.

In much the same way Pete Carroll should have kept his thoughts to himself regarding Sanchez, Dude is saying the same exact thing for Lacy. If indeed you do intend to come to LSU, it does no good to spout off things negatively about the University.

    In that I can agree.

The marriage analysis is pretty extreme, not really a fair comparison. If you want to use that comparison, I'll use this. If you dislike apples and are asked in an interview how you feel about them, are you going to lie so that you aren't bashing apple farmers? Lacy was asked about LSU recruitment, you can't be upset at a guy for telling the truth about a recruiting process. You don't have to like it, or even agree with it, but I don't feel that you can blame a high school kid to for telling the truth in this scenerio. It's not like he said we were bribing him or anything, esentially just that we got into it too late, I don't really see how that's negative?

My description of a relationship effecting your life was extreme, but your's about apples and farmers is not? Okay.

You want to focus on why he feels how he does instead of the actual statement. Do you feel what he said is positive or negative for LSU? If you think it was positive or neutral, then there is nothing further to discuss. IMO, it shows that he feels slighted by LSU and is making sure it is in the public forum. I regard that as negative and counterproductive to his recruitment.

I will stand by this, and the statement that if he had picked bama and then said it, people would be lining up to bash him. Something I am not doing myself. I am merely pointing out that it would be better for LSU to keep those comments to himself or characterize them in a different way. I even gave you an example(Garrett) of how it could have been handled better.

I don't care if the kid comes here or not. I care that the staff get the kids they really want.

Of course the apples thing was extreme, that was he point of it, to show you can't use extreme examples. And yes, I feel his comments were completely neutral, so I guess there is nothing left to debate

You can call it extreme if you like but it was at the very least related. It was about relationships, past and future. Your example was about...I don't know what it's about.

All that aside, I will be surprised if he makes it to LSU. I regard his statements as a big neon sign.

completely understood his reaction and thought it was normal especially for a high school kid if its true LSU hes always wanted to attend LSU. Id probably play hard to get as well or lead them on if I was in the same shoes. Have a little fun at their expense.

kinda like when your woman is trying to make up with you. sometimes you milk it for all its worth.

theres often a broken heart involved when someone is scorned. fine line between the two.

After watching a video of Lacy he looks like a hard runner with decent speed. He hits the hole hard and has good vision and power. He has a spin move that he may use a little too much, but it does demonstrate how athletic he is and that his balance is very good. I get the feeling his top end speed isn't as good as Ford though after he gets in the secondary.

    Re: Eddie Lacy

    Excellent assessment.

He is listed as 4.38 40 on rivals.com and 4.50 on scout.com. Definitely has the speed to outrun some safeties. I suspect 4.50 is more accurate than 4.38. Better top speed than Scott for sure.

Here is the excellent writeup by ESPN (got to hand it to them for doing a great job with these):

"Lacey may not be overly flashy, but he is a productive downhill running back prospect with the physical tools and upside to continue racking up yards at the next level. Great body structure to develop into high-carry college back with his strong, thickly-built frame, particularly through his hips and lower-body, and room for added bulk. Hits the hole with good patience and vision but can reach top-speed quickly when he finds a north-south seam. Shows good foot-quickness and body control making subtle cuts through traffic without losing much in transition. Flashes good jump-cut skill to avoid the initial traffic and the lateral speed to bounce it outside and turn the corner. Earns impressive yards after contact with his great balance, low center of gravity and body-tilt. Shoulders square up quickly out of cuts for added running power. Does not stop his feet on contact; drags the pile with great lower-body strength and finishes runs. However, he shows good but not great burst when he finds an open seam, more of a one-speed back and lacks the extra gear possessed by some of the elite runners in this class. Competitive speed in the second level but does not project to be a breakaway threat as a college back. Lacks good suddenness through the hole and tends to gear down a bit when cutting. Would like to see him become more decisive as an in-line runner. Overall, Lacey should continue to physically develop into a productive, 215-pound, downhill back in college with the strength to wear down a defense and the shiftiness to remain durable between the tackles. Great upside at the position."

Sounds like the perfect speedy power back doesn't he?
