Re: Eddie Lacy Everything points to him being a very talented player. But statements like what I read above do not endear him to me. I don't care to sign a player that is trying to bitch slap us in public a few weeks before signing day. Regardless of how he feels, he could have handled his statements better. Take a page out of Garrett's recruiting and how he talked about Saban coming in late. No insults there, just a simple no thanks, I am committed to LSU.
Re: Eddie Lacy Great point about Garrett. Only difference is he isn't a Bama kid. But the comparison is fair, nonetheless.
Re: Eddie Lacy Its not like he bashed LSU. What he said is far from a big deal. Im sure he probably would have wanted to commit to LSU, but was jaded. Which Im sure you would be as well.
Re: Eddie Lacy Exactly 100 %. When I PMed Bhelm last night, I used the word "disappointed". Jaded works for me.
Re: Eddie Lacy He made sure everybody knew they were late to the table and will have "make up some ground". His statements don't show any particular "love for LSU" as islstl stated. They show the opposite in fact. I could not care less about how he feels. If he feels slighted by LSU, that is fine, but he doesn't need to make statements like that in the midst of his recruiting, if he wants to come here. If he had committed to bama and then made those statements, all of you would be lining up to bash him. It has happened before. I think he has a right to feel any way he pleases, and a right to go anywhere he pleases. I just don't like hearing negative comments about our school from a kid we are currently recruiting. And downplay it all you want, but it was intended to shed a negative light on LSU.
Re: Eddie Lacy I just had to quote this one part. I haven't seen anyone say it properly in over 2 years on TF. :thumb:
Re: Eddie Lacy He didnt at all bash LSU. Im sure you would feel the same way. Wanting your home state school to recruit you. When things are down for you they dont contact you much, but then all of a sudden when they need your position and youre doing better they contact you? I dont see anything wrong that he said. Ive said many times I dont like losing top players but if they want to go out of stat best of luck to them. Say what you want, but if you were in his shoes you would also feel a bit jaded. Its a slap to him that he wasnt wanted but now is. He just had a harsh taste of life.
Re: Eddie Lacy I completely disagree. Would you say his statements are positive or negative? Remove your suppositions about how you or I would feel in his place, and just characterize the statements themselves, not the reasons behind them. Of course I would. You miss my point entirely. He has every right to feel anyway he pleases. I do not blame him one bit for it. However, if he is of the mind to attend this university and is actively accepting our recruitment, he needs to shut his piehole about being slighted. Either run your mouth and go somewhere else, or shut your mouth and go somewhere else, or shut your mouth and come here. You think statements like that are going to endear him to Miles? I think not.
Re: Eddie Lacy I completely understand your point. Im just saying the reasons have to be included. If I felt slighted like he does, Id make the same comments. If LSU really wants him Miles and Co will understand the comments. Which Im sure they do.
Re: Eddie Lacy How exactly did he bash LSU? What exactly did he say that was anti LSU? He told exactly what happened. We didn't recruit him as much in the beginning. That is fact. How is stating fact bashing? Had he said, "They weren't recruiting me in the beginning and now those idiots are regretting it; they are aweful at evaluating players and will feel the consequences during the season", that may have been bashing LSU. He said nothing like that. He essentially just said, "I wasn't being recruited earlier, now I'm doing better. They realize it's their loss."
