Having a family in HS and entering college creates a need for income to support that family. I would hope a support system is in place within the families to remove that pressure. However, the majority of these inner city kids dont have that support structure and it can create pressure a high school senior and incoming college freshman dont need.

I would rather we dont recruit kids that are already burdened with a family unless there are exceptional extenuating circumstances.

You might be right in a sense, but at least he is being a man. That says a lot about his character. He could easily not be a part of the kids life like most kids his age would do. Instead he is manning up. I commend him for it.

Well, you & Mack Brown probably see eye to eye. He doesn't recruit kids from single-parent homes either.

Personally, I think that makes him a judgmental prick.

I don't really care if the guy has made mistakes in his past. Especially if he made them right.

It's how we grow. You get knocked down.. and you stand back up.

That would make him a prick if thats what he did but thats not true.

There is nothing wrong with single parent homes.

:geaux: A lot of kids have enough problems just trying to juggle keeping up their classwork and playing football at the same time. Add in the responsibilities of wife and child to that mix and the possibility of problems escalates tremendously. Also, this kid is a freshman on top of that. It would take a special person to successfully juggle all that responsibility. Many people much older than he is can't do it. I'm not saying he can or can't. What I am saying is that if he's not comfortable at LSU that now is the time to find out and not mid-way through fall practice or next season. Somewhere else may be a better fit for him and his situation and maybe it works out for the best for both him and LSU. :LSU231:

He makes exceptions, but their general rule is that they do not recruit kids from single-parent homes.
