What if paying the luxury tax each year enables the front office to acquire better skilled players thus ensuring the Hornets are competing for a championship each year? Playoff games generate additional revenue. In 2005 (or maybe it was 06) the Hornets earned over a million dollars during the Lakers game after Katrina. You don't think a playoff game clears a million. My playoff ticket price for my season tickets is almost double the price I pay for a regular season ticket.
I agree and i know the information first hand. But a dollar for dollar luxury tax is alot. 1 playoff series wont offset that in most cases.
Agreed, just think if the Hornets ever made the Finals....they'd be rolling in dough lol...Shinn might even throw games to get additional home games (I'm still sticking to my conspiracy theory that this happened in the Dallas series )
lol, he actually might. Also I am probably going to piss you off, but if the Hornets want to get better, they actually need to trade Paul, preferably to the Pistons and get a couple of really good players for him.
Everybody says that because everybody wants him. The Hornets biggest basketball related problem IMO is their inability to improve the team via the draft AND DEVELOP. Other than DWest and CP what have they done. Look at San Antonio: Parker 28th overall Ginobles 2nd round
