not counting the SLU game going on right now (in the game, Rhymes is currently 1 for 2 with a RBI sac fly and a double)... LSU has 15 to 35 games left this season (15 games left on the regular season schedule, with up to 20 potential games in the post season, including the SECT and the Regionals/Super Regionals/CWS) Rhymes has been averaging 3.78 at-bats a game this season, if that continues, he'll be looking at: 197 at-bats after 15 more games 216 at-bats after 20 more games 235 at-bats after 25 more games 254 at-bats after 30 more games 273 at-bats after 35 more games Assuming Rhymes continues to average 3.78 at-bats a game for the rest of the season... if Rhymes doesn't get a single hit the rest of the season, this is what his final batting average will be: .355 if 15 games left (this would still be #1 on the team right now) .324 if 20 games left (this would be #2 on the team right now behind Katz) .298 if 25 games left (this would be better than 11 of our 16 other hitters right now) .275 if 30 games left (this would be better than 8 of our 16 other hitters right now) .256 if 35 games left (this would be better than 7 of our 16 other hitters right now) to break the LSU record of .410 in a season, this is what Rhymes would have to do: 11 hits if 15 games left (bat .193 for the rest of the season) 19 hits if 20 games left (bat .250 for the rest of the season) 27 hits if 25 games left (bat .284 for the rest of the season) 35 hits if 30 games left (bat .307 for the rest of the season) 42 hits if 35 games left (bat .316 for the rest of the season) -- toughest case scenario to become the 4th Tiger in history to bat .400 or higher in a season, this is what he would have to do: 9 hits if 15 games left (bat .158 for the rest of the season) 17 hits if 20 games left (bat .224 for the rest of the season) 24 hits if 25 games left (bat .253 for the rest of the season) 32 hits if 30 games left (bat .281 for the rest of the season) 40 hits if 35 games left (bat .301 for the rest of the season) -- toughest case scenario to become the 7th Tiger in history to bat .388 or higher in a season, this is what he would have to do: 7 hits if 15 games left (bat .123 for the rest of the season) 14 hits if 20 games left (bat .184 for the rest of the season) 22 hits if 25 games left (bat .232 for the rest of the season) 29 hits if 30 games left (bat .254 for the rest of the season) 36 hits if 35 games left (bat .271 for the rest of the season) -- toughest case scenario
Those curveballs was his undoing at the end of the game. They knew better than to throw fastballs, he'd eat that sh*t up. Kind of reminds me of this:
Well, Georgia was smart to give him nothing but curve balls in the dirt. The pitcher got that 2nd to last one over the plate so Raph had to defend on that last swing. It was ball 4 but that's a hard pitch to hold off of. It was good pitching strategy there at the end. It would have been great, though, to snake bite Georgia 3 games in a row. Oh well. I'd still love to have him at the plate in clutch situations.
Rhymes is still batting .500 (78-for-156) over the last week he was: 1-for-3 vs SLU (one of the non-hits was an RBI sac fly) 3-for-4 in game 1 vs Georgia 2-for-4 in game 2 vs Georgia 2-for-5 in game 3 vs Georgia (7-for-13 total vs Georgia... .538) 8-for-16 over the last week... .500
