I think you are missing my point. Don't get me wrong...I am glad that we are consistently at the top of the recruiting rankings, but we do not have to win the recruiting title to have a legitimate shot at one of these..:crystal: With the talent we have brought in the last four to five years along with this year...we have just a good a chance to win a National Title as any other school in the country. Now tell me how many times in those four or five years did we win the recruiting championship? The point is this...the recruiting title is nothing to put a lot of stock in.
This is recruiting season. We want to win. This :crystal: is for football season. We want to win that too.
What's more important than a recruiting championship is consistent top 10 or top 5 recruiting classes.By the way Coach Miles has done an awsome job at that!:thumb:
Well rivals is the most questionable. Tennessee = 5, 11, 15 USC = 6, 10, 2 (5, 4, and 3 star, respectively) You can't tell me the extra 13 three star recruits should not have put Tennessee well past USC, just by sheer numbers. Pretty crappy scoring system they have employed there. I think they use a USC weight factor of 1.25 in their calculation.
I agree. I also think USC should be a clear number one, as they should have last year as well. The sites try to factor too much stuff into their rankings I think. And anyone who deosn't believe recruiting classes don't mean much or aren't indicative of how well a program is going to be is not beinf real objective. Sure there are a few hits and misses, but you look at how programs recruit over the long haul and then look at how they've played over that same time period and you'll see a direct correlation.
I think it is imperative that we have a top 10 recruiting class year in and year out. However, I don't think these classes can really be ranked until they have come through. On paper, we may have a great class one year but if we're not fighting for :crystal: in the next years, will that class be so great. I do have one bone with the rankings. What's ESPN's deal? For one, Herbstreit loves picking against LSU on Sat. and it seems they always have us ranked lower than the AP. We're ranked #6 in recruiting, our lowest ranking from anyone, and they don't even mention picking up Toliver. As much as I wonder if they hate us, it seems they love showing our games prime time on Sat. night-Go Figure??
Do rankings take into account a players character? Some of these kids Miles has picked up seem like really god character kids.
