I don't follow recruiting nearly as closely as most of you on this Forum. But I was looking a Rivals this morning and see that they are ranking LSU's class at #9 with 5 or 6 weeks till signing day. The last time I looked we were #2, and now we're behind 5 other SEC schools. I know this is an inexact science but what happened? And where do you think we will end up with this class? :eek:ldskule:

Mike Davis, a five star, decommitted which hurt us pretty significantly. Also, we got out to a fast start this year which means you tend to be high at first and as others pick up recruits, it's not so much that you fall but that they overtake you. We could still jump if Lache Seastrunk, Trovon Reed, or others committ to us.

I do not follow it too much either, but I do look over it around this time of the year. I find that most of the players teams get arent always as hyped as most make them.

I would say about 20% of the 4-5 star players that teams get actualy give the team a true 4-5 star play. Just my opinion on it.

This could be a bit of a down year in over all recruiting for LSU, but I have seen we have gotten some good D players, which I think is a huge plus.

As long as LSU recruits top 10 every year and top 5 every 2 of 4 years, LSU will always be in the hunt.

I'd bet it's much higher than that. OUR success hasn't been the best in recent years (Perriloux, Woods) but you have to consider there are only a handful of schools (Us, USC, Texas, OU, Florida, Bama, Ohio State probably get the most) that get the vast majority of the 5-stars, and they almost always pan out, especially when you consider there are no more than 30 in any given year. Florida's secondary is all 5-star. We've got two in our secondary that I would say have panned out nicely (Jones and Peterson). Toliver had a strong year in relation to our offensive struggles. Shep and Rueben look like they'll be fine. These kids are 5-star for a reason.

I look at our school and those that go to the NFL. I guess my thinking is more along the lines of " getting the top recruiting class in no way means :crystal:."

We'll land around #6 I would think. Got some fairly high ranked guys still on board.. Ego, Lache, Wright/Fobbs, Parker, etc. We'll finish with probably 16 4*+ recruits. 17 if the cards fall right.

Basically it's working out perfectly IMO. When it's all said and done our class will be right up there with Florida, Alabama, etc.

If we get Lache, top 5.

If we don't, we'll be trying to hold on to top 10.

Seems like it would be crazy to have 15-16 4* recruits and barely be in the top-5. Is this inflation? :hihi:
