I'd be surprised if LSU gets any top WRs prospects in the near future. Avery Johnson is apparently wavering after the way the offense was run in the past 3 months.

    And who's saying he's "wavering"??

I've read reports that because of his OWN "subpar" production this past season that other PROGRAMS are wavering on his recruitment...

So, if, in fact, he's going to go elsewhere due to poor QB play from the worst starter in college football that's NOT going to be here moving forward, then judging by his own production this season, we could look elsewhere, too.

Bottom line: If he goes someplace else, it's due to his own decision/feeling about another program and NOT due to our offensive production the past 3 months (when, you consider that 3 months ago, we were putting up 35+ points a game--so that "past 3 months" statement is misleading, IMO).

I wouldn't want him to go anyplace else, but if he does, so be it. LSU will go on.

And to touch a little on the "...surprised if LSU gets any top WR prospects in the near future".

I hear what you're saying, but here's something to think about. How come other programs can develop unhearalded WR's and we can't? Take that kid from Wisconsin. A no-name white kid that WALKED-ON! ...and the Badgers, a historically RUN-FIRST, RUN-OFTEN team turned him into a mini-Wes Welker! He's probably more quick than blazing fast, but he's an EXCELLENT route runner and has phenominal hands.

I hate to keep going to this, but I was absolutely shocked by it, but again, take UL-L's WR and their performance in their bowl game. You tell me that all of those guys were "top prospects" coming out of high school?? They didn't drop many and 2 of them had great 1-handed catches, in traffic...

So, programs out there are developing great WR's at the college level, yet we somehow NEED "top WR prospects" in order to get decent production??? Sounds like we need a top WR COACH instead.

I've never disliked Randall but at the same time he's never been a leader. He's always come across as unemotional. He's not a fighter and a guy that can be depended on to lead his team or lift them out of a funk. He's a good receiver but not great.

He lacks fire and passion. He'll be lucky to go in the 3rd round but 4th is probably more like it.

    Good luck to him.

Good luck to RR. I only wish we had a QB that could have really helped us use him better...wait...he was doing great with JLee as the QB...scratch that.

Anywho...I think we are pretty deep at WR and I think RS even knows that. I would be suprised if RS stays...and even more surprised if he starts if he does stay.

Landry and ODBjr will be STUDS, and I can't wait to see a big, tall, cerebral QB slinging the ball down the dadgum field.

I can't agree with this more. McCarthy was a disaster for obvious reasons, and I've seen nothing out of Billy Gonzales that has been overly impressive in terms of WR development. This is a position where I really hope Les doesn't just promote from within and grabs one of the best people he can.

I'm not being a JJ apologist, but this is erroneous. He actually had his best statistical game of the year with JJ at the helm (9 catches, 134 yards, 1 TD). He caught one pass against Ole Miss...in a game where JJ only threw 7 passes. I make no bones about the last two games of the year where he saw very little production (Ga. and Alabama) but both of those run the same defense and they blanketed him in coverage with a CB underneath and safety over the top.

There's plenty of ammunition against JJ without stretching the truth.

RR has a chance to go late 2nd. or early 3rd. is the word I'm getting. But in the draft, you never know.

Brockers could be a top 20 pick.

    Best of luck to all.......

He got a late 2nd round grade with a chance to have a great combine and raise his stock. He's a sub 4.5 40 away from raising his stock. If he runs in the 4.4s he'll go higher than where he's graded. Outside of Green Bay and New Orleans, every team has some level of need for receivers. Even New England. I'm not saying he'll be successful, but he should draft well if he works hard.

Depending on your perspective, he kind of had to go now. He put up great numbers with mediocre quarterbacking. What if he puts up the same numbers with great quarterbacking next year? So there was high risk, high reward either way. Add that with his receivers coach leaving and it's like, why spend your senior year with a brand new guy when you can go to the league and get better with much more experienced guys and get paid nicely for it.

All I wanted to know from folks close to him back home, is that Monday night didn't push him away, and they said definitely not. He was probably gone, win or lose. He thought JL should've played, but he's been playing football too long to get caught up in that kind of stuff, especially after having the kind of season they had. Sometimes you have a bad night. Every now and then, you have a HORRIBLE night. Every now and then came for us Monday.
