if mackey isn't a LSU tiger, i hope he goes to Louisiana Tech...i like Dooley, and support the state schools...he's the kind of guy that could really take them up a notch.
DC and Jordan Jefferson seem like very similar QB's but with jordan being the more athletic of the two. With that being the case i would have rathered just taken Jordan in this class and used the other schollie on Mackey who could have come in and present the defense with a different look than the Jeffersons. He's not to short. The Times Picayune had and article in the paper today and said he was 6'1" 190lbs.
seen an interview with him yesterday and he said he wants to go to Texas..but as long as he is in college and his mom is happy then he will be happy. I am from Bastrop and have watched him for 3 years and I would really love to see him at lsu
At this point I don't think he will make it to a big school. I hope he does find a home though, I would like to see him at La Tech.
Ok guys here is the real deal ive seen the kid im 5-11 he maybe an inch taller than me..height isnt the issue troy smith of ohio st is not taller heck drew brees isnt even taller.....now as far as talent goes ive never seen a quarterback that can do the things he does since arnaz battle from byrd high in shreveport and he went to notre dame......i tell u right now he is a better college talent than john david booty whom i felt was over rated... and i believe his play has proven me correct cuz booty turned out to be no more than a functional quarterback.....this kid has a cannon for an arm and if u see the timing he has with his deep routes with his recievers its something to seesomething to see....he is absolutely lights out with the ball in his hands his football speed is undeniable....this kid in a spread offense would be a dennis dixon type but a better passer....everyone that has something to say about his grades but none of thyem teach are attend bastrop id like to here about his grades from more reputable sources like the clearinghouse......and for this kid not to be rated at least 4 star bye any scouting sight is beyond me.......if LSU is not recruiting him at least as an athlete is crazy........jordan jefferson is a good talennt but he aint mackey ive seen them both......did any of you go to the dome for the state title all he did was put on another show....
When do we ever get info from the clearinghouse about grades before a final decision is made? This is just the name of the game and we can only go by what coaches feelings are towards recruits and what little info we can get from recruiting services. Do you have any info on his grades? We know many fans are high on him but he is only recieving overs from many JUCO schools(sign his grades are not as good as they need to be), Miss St., ULM, LA Tech, and Grambling St. I respect Miles decision regarding who is being offered because he knows about next year's QB talent, more details about his grades, and need at other possible positions he might or might not be willing to play. Does he mind playing any position? If he goes the JUCO route, then maybe we can scoop him up in a year or 2 if the. I am not trying to knock down Mackey but I think his problem is based on timing of LSU needs and coaches worrying about his grades.
rivals has moved mackey up to 3 stars ARKANSAS LA TECH MEMPHIS MISSISSIPPI ST TEXAS TECH ULM OKLAHOMA SOUTHERN MISS These are the schools that are recruiting mackey according to rivals and scout.com.... I'll go on record right now if this kid has the grades and passes the clearing house this he maybe the biggest miss ive ever seen. because the kid wants to go to LSU i know we will be fine without him blah blah blah...:crystal:
gely, I'm very confident that our coaching staff would go all out to recruit a talent like him if they felt his grades would be fine. It's a position of need, he's a big time talent, there's no reason not to offer him a scholarship except his grades. That is why he hasn't been offered by big time schools. No one is denying his skills, that has never been called into question... it's his grades and all the signs of grades being a major issue are there.
