This. Threaten to come back to LSU, force them to offer more money. I just don't see the Red Sox not offering him Top 10 money.

My only guess is that in order to keep the LSU door open if Boston didn't offer enough $$$$, he didn't accept any money or otherwise preserved his eligibility. I have no idea how all that works anymore. Like you, I'd love to see him pitching for the Red Sox. That would be worth a trip to Boston.

Baseball ain't football. It's been rumored that he was still weighing the decision...but I don't see him coming back to LSU. One can hope.

if boston doesn't meet the price AR wants, he said he wanted to come back and prove he's a top pitcher for LSU. hopefully that happens, not only because i want to see him another season possibly in a rotation with zach lee, but because i would utterly HATE to see him in a red sox jersey, God that would just make my blood boil.

all a moot point, because the kid's going. boston has the money to throw at AR, why would they pass on him? it makes NO sense whatsoever.

they have the money, but don't be shocked if they don't throw it at him.

i've read that them drafting Workman and Ranaudo is typical of the way Theo thinks.
draft two with the expectation that only 1 would sign.

of course they would prefer AR, but they won't jump backwards through flaming hoops to get him.

plus their farm system still has some good arms in it.
4 of their top 10 prospects right now are pitchers (3 of them starters)
so they're not desperate for AR to make a quick impact.

This story is from July 29th:

“He’s told me he doesn’t know,” Ott said. “It really is going to be a decision that will be made later on. I haven’t talked money with him, so I don’t know. I’d love to have him back at LSU, but at the same time, he’s got to do what’s best for his career, too.”

Full Count Ranaudo still mulling decision to turn pro or return to LSU

Nothing earth-shattering in the article, appears the Sox may not have put any $$$ in front of him yet. Figure he won't be back but you never know. Completely different circumstances but most people thought Kevin Faulk would leave early.
