Fellas, If you read my posts and notice my spelling....it is almost always right on. So since you all seem to take offense at my inadvertent, phonetic mispelling of Anthony Ranaudo's last name, please excuse me and be advised that MY last name is Herbert...not Hebert.

I only got a vowel wrong...I did not leave out a letter completely as most everyone in Louisiana does with my last name.

I guess I'm lucky that my last name isn't Schmitt..
Leaving the "R" out of Herbert is like leaving the "R" out of shirt.

Anthony has a lot less problems with his name than I do on a daily basis..

Clair's a journalist. If we misspell a word, especially a name, no big deal but in his world it IS a big deal.

is the gratuitous name calling really necessary?

let me answer that. no, its not.

and since i did not edit the thread title to correct the name spelling until AFTER clair made his post, pointing out the spelling after it had been misspelled a few times would have been done by a lot of people around here.

Not even just that (although you are right). Just in general when I really, really like a player, like I do Anthony, I tend to think it's a big deal that I at least know how to spell his name. :)

Hard to claim to be a Michael Jordan die-hard if the sign on my clubhouse says: "Micheel Jorden fan clube"

I totally agree with you...even though I misspelled his name...Names are important to spell properly.

When I was a grad assistant in graduate school, I had a student that always called me Hebert...despite me correcting him on both my name's spelling and pronunciation. So I took off ten points from his final exam for his ignorance. He protested to my major professor who asked me about it. I told my professor that the ten point deduction had no bearing on his final grade so I did it on purpose, just to tick the student off. I told my professor, "I corrected this guy many times over the course of the semester, yet he still called me Hebert (not Herbert). He didn't think it was important...I did.".

So Clair, thanks for correcting me...I really didn't mind at all. :thumb:.

LSU just sent out a release saying Ranaudo's recuperation extended by one week. This is NOT a good sign.

RANAUDO’S RECUPERATIVE PERIOD EXTENDED BY ONE WEEK

BATON ROUGE, La. –The recuperative period for LSU junior right-hander Anthony Ranaudo has been extended by one week, coach Paul Mainieri said Monday.

Ranaudo is experiencing discomfort in his throwing elbow that has been diagnosed as a stress reaction.
