I am pretty sure the staff wants him now that Reed has pledged to Auburn and probably before we lost out on Reed. Especially, if we lose out on any current WR commits. Fobbs and Wright are still in play.
:geaux: Bhelm, are we still in good shape with Davis and Hunter? Is either one wavering or are both still pretty solid? :LSU231:
They both took visits a few weeks ago. Davis to ATM and Hunter to Tenn but nothing has come out saying they are wavering but the coaching changes could affect their decisions. Have to wait and see.
Good breakdown with quotes from TSD.com from many of the committed prospects. LSU seems to be taking care of business and will need to keep it up. Coaching carousel, possible violations may influence LSU recruiting
I wonder if the fact that Frank Wilson is being offered Porter's job means that Porter is expected to make a run at some LSU commits. I can see him making a run at some prospects (especially 2011 ones) but commits...probably not. It's just what Kiffen would do. So what's fair in love, war and recruiting these days?
:geaux: Agree. Porter can make his runs if he wants to, but I don't really see any of the kids who are committed dropping LSU for Memphis just to play for Porter. I don't see them passing up a chance to play in the SEC for CUSA. It would also be pretty unethical for him to go after current commits, but then no one ever said ethics were a part of college football recruiting.:hihi: Uncommitted prospects are another matter though and I would surely expect him to go after those kids. :LSU231:
SEC caliber prospects, especially in the LA and TX areas, are not going to pass up a big program for a small one 99% of the time. He may have a shot at one or two each class around the Memphis area but nothing significant in terms of affecting LSU recruiting.
on the radio yesterday, Porter said his main concern was recruiting from the inside out. His main focus is going to be keeping the Memphis kids in Memphis. So is there anyone on our list who is from the Memphis area?
