After 2 seasons an extension is warranted in order to reassure recruits the he will still be here. I would be against a huge raise but a modest raise would be OK. The difference between $3.5 million and $3.75 or even $4 million isn't going to change his lifestyle, which is mostly working 18 hour days year round.
