http://www.sportsline.com/nfl/story/9834585 Tom Walsh, the OC of the Raiders, was finally fired. That probably came about 12 weeks too late. I called for this after watching the MNF game against Seattle. I love this part: "Walsh is a close friend of coach Art Shell, having served as his offensive coordinator during Shell's first stint as Raiders coach. But Walsh had been out of the NFL since being fired with Shell after the 1994 season and was the recipient of much of the blame for the NFL's worst offense". Just for rehiring this guy, I would fire Art Shell as well. Hire your best friend. Yeah that's a recipe for success.
After they fire Shell, they also need to fire their owner if that's possible. He's the reason for the fall of the Raiders. He and Tom Benson rank right up there with the worst owners in football.
ESPN.com is reporting that he is actually remaining on the staff. They did not say what we he would be doing. But I agree, Art needs to go. And yes the owner needs to go too, but something tells me Old man Time is going to take care of him soon (have you seen him?!!)
And at least Granny gives a chit. He IS the Raiders, for better or worse, and I don't think anybody doubts how much he wants to win. He's just hopelessly clueless as to how to go about it.
In a related story, the Raiders have demoted Art Shell's sister, who was the head assistant to the Director of Player Personnel. She can now be found in the mail room.
