USL, that little school in lafayette right? Isn't that what it is called? At least that is what they were last time I lived there. Did something change?
It's been a tremendous season for my alma mater. I watched the last half of the 4th quarter when it looked to be all but over. Coach Hudspeth was choked up after the game when they interviewed him on the field. He wants this conference championship really bad. I hope they play a very competitive game vs Arky State. Give them all they can handle. New Orleans.com bowl gets first dibs and it doesn't have to be the conference champion. Godaddy.com bowl selects the 2nd Sun Belt team. I fully expect New Orleans.com bowl to pick ULL.
I agree. Coach Hud has done a fantastic job turning the program around. There is plenty of talent in this state for USL to win at their level and LSU to win at their level.
If coach Hud could just keep all the talent that LSU doesn't want he wouldn't have to really go anywhere else.....good job Cajuns!
I think he has figured that out. Louisiana has some great high school talent that deserves to have a chance to play Division 1 ball, even if not at the top tier level. With the high school talent level in Louisiana (and East Texas), USL should be able to be competitive with 90% of the Division 1 programs. If USL can keep him for a few years the program should grow. Amazing what winning attitude can do for a program.
While I agree with everything you said, having 5 Division 1 schools in Louisiana just seems like too much. I think ULM or Tulane moving down or eliminating their program would help the Cajuns significantly. As I may have mentioned previously, I think it's good for LSU to have the Cajuns continue to struggle with their football program. This LSU team is the most quality depth I've ever seen and I think part of the reason is that other D1 schools in the state have not been viable alternatives. If the Cajuns had an up and coming program a couple of years ago, maybe Ford or Blue would've gone there. I like having all of our RBs. Enjoy the success Cajuns fans. I know it's been painful to follow such a struggling program but I really think y'all are going in the right direction, possibly with more of a long term outlook. The men's basketball team appears to have found a good coach also.
LSU has no worries unless the program falls off to the point it was in the 90s. UL's goal is to move up into the recruiting realm of an Ole Miss or Mississippi State. They come in and get the leftovers in Louisiana once LSU, Bama, and Florida have gotten who they want.
