Your disrespect for the Constitution of the United States of America really pisses me off. This country was founded on the beliefs that a citizen could criticize and protest the government if he wants to. We have a fundamental right to free speech, even if it is widely unpopular, as just upheld by a very conservative Supreme Court. Our servicemen fought to preserve these very freedoms. You disrespect them when you disrespect the Constitution. Your personal outrage at this particular protest gives you no right whatsoever to say that these citizens "are not Americans", "they are communists", and "trash". You clearly do not understand what a progressive is, nor what a communist is. If I am a "vulture" for pointing this out, then THAT'S TOO DAMN BAD.
With all due respect Red, you're wrong. He's got every right to say that, just as the protesters have their rights. You do realize with that statement you just disrespected the same constitution you accused him of disrespecting, don't you? And for what it's worth, I agree with you. Personally I despise some of these protesters and would love to see them beaten half to death by soldiers, but it's their right to protest.
I'm not exactly sure but I'd venture to say you, amigo, just got angry at an anonymous internet character. Did that just actually happen?
I understand, but he wasn't protesting the government. He was offering an opinion on a political debate forum with the tag line "let the vultures come out and slam me." How can I resist that? I did not suggest that he had no right to be pissed off, just that others could be equally pissed off by his suggestion that protest itself was un-American.
Not at all. I was angry at at a character's thesis. I like Rwilliams. He tosses me a lot of softballs. :yelwink2: You and SabanFan won't throw me anything near the strike zone anymore. Bases on balls is less satisfying that a base hit.
Oh I wasn't getting on you for jumping on that. I'd expect no less, especially with an invitation.. :yelwink2: I know you didn't suggest he had no right to be pissed. You said his outrage gives him no right to call those protesters what he called them, which it most certainly does, and should. Anyway, I saw that statement and thought , "How can I resist that?"
Not exactly, but in the case of Obama, yes. I saw him as a political neophyte with no Executive experience who was the most liberal Senator in the US and had associations with people of questionable character and motive. The idiots saw that he was not a Rebublican and had a silver tongue and were convinced that all of the hope and change crap meant good things. Some here will say that his being black factored into my decision. It did not, but his middle name did.
I like the back and forth. It's fun. Red kicks my ass all the time and it's ok. I understand if you don't like a war. You picket a politician for his decision. You don't picket a soilder or marine for doing what their country ask of them. I think anyone that taunts us servicemen and calls them babykiller and **** like that are unamerican. How can you not be appreaciative of a serviceman. These are the best of what America is. Anyone that shouts down a serviceman like the liberals do is unamerican trash in my opinion. You will not change my mind. My dad would whip my ass with his belt in front of my wife and kid if I disrespected a serviceman or burned an American flag. He called them trash. My grandfather who served in the pacific in ww2 and lost 2 brothers called them trash to. The people who spit on soilders as they came back from nam should have been deported to north Vietnam and they could have kissed each others commy ass all day. I was raised to respect servicemen and respect the flag they fought for. That America was a special place and we were better than the rest of the world. America first. Red white and blue all the way. People who picket marine recruiting centers don't deserve go be here. This is why I will never vote democrat. Ever.
Don't you see zippy, [ and for the record I'm retired military] while your feelings are founded and based on a particular upbringing, one that in my opinion was proper and has instilled respect and patriotism you MUST understand this one point. The reason that the service men and women you hold so dear endure the hardships that we do is SO those idiots can do those things without reprisal. It is called freedom (what little we have left of it after barry is done is yet to be determined) and it is what sets us apart from many other nations. Example, we like to call that moron that has iran by the balls right now all sorts of silly crap. Achmanutjub, achmadenimjacket, blah blah, we call muslims ragheads, we talk all sorts of trash that would have some very unfriendly people taking us from our homes in the dark of night and likely lopping our heads off in the town square just to get the point across if we were to do this stuff there. I know it is hard to digest. The point is, this is America (for a while longer) and the very things that have you all tangled up inside are the very things that make us who we are and the same things my brothers and sisters have and will continue to fight to the death to protect.
