Race for #1 class is too close to call

Alabama just moved ahead of us on the Rivals board. We are still #1 on the ESPN board as of about an hour ago.

Janzen Jackson should put us over the top on all boards. The loss of DeAngelo Benton was pretty much offset by Montgomery signing with us.

Bama had a strong finish. At one point we were ranked #1 in the rival poll and they were #6 today.

It's a race to the finish.

 

too much is made of recruiting class rankings. don't sweat it.

 

Let me put on my 'Captain Obvious' cap for a sec.

'It's all speculative anyway. For the most part, we got every one we wanted. Now, it's all about coaching them up and performing on the field.'

 

They'll have a few academic casualties.

 

WTF happened with Bell, Benton and Sentimore? Now I know Sentimore was a long shot but Bell, Sentimore and Eddie Lacy all got to friggin Bama, that's sad. Great class no doubt, but something still irks me that we lost these guys to Bama and Auburn and never did replace Dexter Pratt.

 

1 2 3 doesn't matter, we got some of the best, and in many cases the best at key positions we most definately needed.

 

We got the #1 player in Texas and in Louisiana.
That is silly. If that isnt "locking up" your region I dont know what is.
Fact is bama, LSU, USC and Ohio State all have a claim to the silly #1.
Lets not put to much stock in who finished #1, lets celebrate the kids who WANT TO be at LSU, and not lament the ones who didnt. PLus Bama is 8 on ESPN. So it goes to show its worse then AP rankings. Its just some geek with a computers opinion. Sure its fun to discuss for awhile. But really it means nothing.

 

In addition to TexasTiger's excellent points, if this years class can contribute to a couple of these :crystal:, they're #1 in my mind.

 

Bama is number 1 according to Rivals. LSU number 1 on ESPN and scouts. I think Rivals is ran by a bama homer. Take it for what its worth.
