LSU's receivers aren't about to ask for more passes with Fournette's success, but there's an emphasis on improving the balance, as well as pitching in to help the ground game. ''If they were recruiting me and they told me they were going to give the ball to Leonard, or the running backs 75 percent of the time, it might be hard to get a recruit at the receiver position or quarterback position,'' Dupre said. ''But at the end of the day, we're here ... we've got to live with it. ''We're doing the best that we can do blocking, and then when we get an opportunity, we've got to make the best of it. Because there's going to be times this year where we're going to have to have it.'' I have a major issue with this statement. A receiver that commits to LSU should know what he is getting himself into, if Les Miles shows up at your house and say we are going to throw the ball 40 times again, you should call the police to escort him out. However, work hard bro and show up and catch the damn ball, no one will give a shit about you if you dont show effort against Eastern Michigan and then complain about LF getting the ball 75 percent of the times. Thats a bullshit attitude, ask Landry and Beckham how to deal with that.
Hmm... Seems like some of these WR's are in need of an attitude adjustment. Maybe Les can call in Landry and OBJ for an intervention and read these guys the riot act.
Then catch the fucking ball dipshit. He is definitely a primadonna. And now he is going to hurt recruiting with his mouth. If I'm Les, Dupree is catching a seat on the pine for the next 2 games.
If the receivers run crisp routes, get open and catch the ball when they have a chance the coaches are going to see that and they'll get more chances. You can't tell me CLM don't like a completed pass downfield. As it is would you want to waste a down on these receivers? (not talking to anybody in particular here)
You can already tell just by their attitudes who is going to be respected, admired, and revered and who is going to end up being the next Terrell Owens that can't catch a football.
The thing is, when you have essentially what is a once in a generation talent like Fournette, of course the offense is going to revolve him. I haven't looked up the run/pass splits, but I'm sure it's not going to be 75% running plays over the duration of the entire season The receivers have to step up and catch the damn ball; this is not all on Harris, as we have already been discussing on this board. There is no excuse for the dropped passes when they're hitting these guys in the damn hands and numbers. Time to put up or shut up. IMO, I'm fine with seeing how Chark, Quinn, and others can do. Seems to me that Dupre and Dural have attitude problems.
You know what, Trey Quinn had a bad game last year against Bama with 3 drops, and the greatest receiver in LHSAA history has kept his mouth shut and has accepted the fact that he basically got demoted. It's time to let him redeem himself and to sit Dupree. There is no room for "me" people on this team.
I don't know if it's necessarily time to bench Dupree but he's sure got room for improvement and an attitude change, I'm more concerned with Dural's drops, he's supposed to be our most veteran receiver......I have been surprised to not see more of Quinn in a Wes Welker possession receiver type role, makes me wonder what the real story is there if he has lingering concussion problems. Hopefully he'll be back on the field soon......I'd also like to see Smith our TE make his presence felt.
This guy came from an offense that ran the ball probably 85% of the time. Granted it's high-powered so he still had his opportunities. But dude, shut up and make the plays. He hasn't been as egregious as others, but he should probably have 4 or 5 more catches and a couple more touchdowns. The lack of balance isn't just because Fournette is so great...although he is. The lack of balance is because they, as a passing unit (Harris included!) have not been very good. How stupid would the coach be if he kept on having his guys chuck it out there when the receivers are either running a shitty route, not fighting for the ball, or just flat out dropping it. Mix that in with Harris' bad passes and you get 75% running. I don't think anyone on that team wants that kind of balance...LF7 included! Crazy thing is, while Dupre did come from a run-heavy offense, Fournette DIDN'T. Sure he was the centerpiece, but his last two years they were about 50/50 balanced...and he got plenty of touches in the passing game too. That whole crew needs to take some cues from Fournette on humility.
