Faulk was a bust in the NFL, only Brady could be considered an NFL caliber LB. Before that you probably have to go back to Micheal Brooks.
I think for any defensive guy to really make Belichek's roster, that is a step above mediocre, but maybe not by much. Lionel Turner, no matter how mediocre he made have been, he could stop the run, and could EFFING tackle, and maybe that is why I saw him as solid. I guess if you line up the guys we have today with those guys, you'd think they were hall of famers. :hihi: Maybe that's why I'm being so gracious. Bradie James and Trev Faulk are two of my all-time favorite players. I wish that LSU would reserve certain numbers for special positions, like #11 and #7 for solid linebackers and #3 for a promising running back.... kinda how Michigan does #1. I don't know. Gabe Northern had a few productive seasons in the NFL with the Bills before falling off. If I'm not mistaken, Jarvis Green played mostly LB at LSU, but has played only DE at New England. Other than that... not much.
No offense, but Lionel Turner was 6' 2" 260 lbs and had limited lateral movement. If he had played this year & gone up against Harvin, Rainey or Demps, he would have little to no chance. It's just plain hard to stop scatbacks with that kind of speed. Jarvis Green never played Linebacker at LSU, he was always a great DE, out of Donaldsonville.
I think it is way too easy to get hung up on recruiting rankings. A "Top 5" recruiting class means nothing if they can't wipe the smirk off of the faces of people like Tommy Tubberville.
