No way will I be happy if the top receiver in the south & the state goes to Alabama. If Miles can't outrecruit Saban in Louisiana we are in big trouble. Winning games at home would go a long way towards solving that problem & with the season we are having losing the top recruit would not be good..

I try not to focus on individual recruits. I'm more focused on how the class looks in its entirety. And who we do get is way more important than who we don't get.

Of course I want Randle & lots of other guys, but we'll just have to see how it all plays out and hopefully we'll still have a top 3 class.

    Well, from Bama's persepective....

    Demeco Ryans *
    Tyrone Prothro **
    Antoine Caldwell **
    Glen Coffee ***
    Mike Johnson **
    Javier Arenas ***

Rashad Johnson walked on. He was not recruited at all by any FBS team...

It's not all about the stars bro.

I'm fine with losing RR if we keep hauling in top-5 recruiting classes. I'll trade the #1 LA recruit for the #1 Texas recruit 9/10 times..

No problem with that.. not for me. I'd rather a Texas kid who wants to go here than a LA kid that doesn't. I'm not saying anything about RR.. I'd love him and P&G but I want him to play where he wants to play.

That being said.. it's difficult to imagine RR turning us down right now. Not with the obscene talent we've pulled in recently. He can come here and be a part of an NFL caliber WR core.. or he can go elsewhere and play for a good/great team.

We don't need every recruit to play like a 5 star player.

Obviously, in recruiting, you want the best talent that you can get. However, "marginal" guys who may not ever be special but will provide quality depth are important too. You need guys like that for when a high profile player transfers or doesn't live up to their abilities. And as an added bonus, sometimes they actually end up being exceptional players themselves.

Johnson was a 4* -- but there are TONS of lower ranked players that play like five stars. People assume three stars means they are bad players but it still means they are elite. Plus you cant evaluate the future work ethic of a player and how a coach is going to use them over four years.

I understand that it's not all about the stars, but I'm tired of our 2 and 3 star LBs being marginal. What were Laurenitis, Channing Crowder, and AJ Hawk ranked? 3-star? And look how they turned out.

Beckwith was a 4-star and has dudded out these last couple seasons, a lot due to injury. Sheppard was a 3-star, Cutrera was a 3-star, Riley was a 3-star...

Maybe it's just poor, poor coaching.
