I really think how we finish out the next 2 games will start to show a impact on LSU's class. Its one thing to have a down year with a terrible QB situation but the team is just really bad right now. I mean, Texas and Florida had down years last year, now they're doing great. But the problem LSU has is this is 3 losses where they didn't even look competitive. I bet that negative recruiting is starting to work now. This is why I think Randle at one point was near a lock but is much more open now.

In a recent article Darren Myles himself said he needs to question Miles and staff on their decisions and why the team has been sloppy. Not good, I think they're going to start having a lot of ground to makup on some recruits...

I will always hate losing such a top-ranked prospect from Louisiana.

Recruiting is the least of Miles' problems right now. He better find him some defensive coaches and fast.

I agree, and the question is how will he handle it so it won't hurt recruiting? Does he demote Mallory/Pveto or fire them both and get a well established DC? I think they are just way over their head as DCs, coming up with their own schemes and coaching their positions. They need to stick to position coach. But I will admit, I've never been impressed with anything Pveto has done outside recruiting, it wouldn't hurt to see him leave. Mallory, I think is a pretty good DB coach, just this year, inexperience is killing them. If you watch them, they've been pretty solid in coverage. Its really the blown coverages that kill us. They get beat sometimes but the way the statistics show, you'd think its a lot more than it actually is. Coleman, Mccray and Taylor are all TERRIBLE at coverage/tackling too. Don't get me started on Earl Lane. I don't mind seeing both come back for recruiting purposes but only if we get a legit badass DC. If Miles doesn't address this in the off-season I personally think his foot is already out the door after next year. Maybe Bo Pellini was the entire defense.

I'd go on ripping LSU's TERRIBLE scheme that continues to make me scratch my head and their HORRIBLE personnel decisions but this really isn't the place. Really when Miles announced they'd keep pretty much the same scheme as last year, I knew it wasn't going to turn out good this year. Did Miles not watch game film and see how exposed our defense was last year, with better players? I have to admit, I'm starting to think Les Miles is a bit overrated as a coach as this year specifically, his coaching flaws are becoming obvious. Not to sound like a NegaTiger but I'm really starting to get concerned about LSU's future at the helm of Miles. The Co-DC was the first of a really bad decision, especially since hes not a defensive minded coach. He needs someone, like Bo, that can carry that weight away from Miles mind of worry.

Be careful about putting too much stock in those star ratings. Just because they are three or even two stars does not mean they will not make a major contribution to the game. I like to keep pointing out that Jacob Hester was a two-star prospect coming out of high school. He did pretty good as I recall.

Hester was an anomaly. Everyone keeps bringing up that he was only 2 stars, well when's the last time there was a player besides Hester who was a 2 star who played like a 5 star? seriously, I don't know so I'm asking. it seems as if a lot of guys are wanting to use the Hester situation as a basis for the whole recruiting class (or at least the positions we're shaky on) and things just don't work out like that very often.

Stars system isn't really something to gaze about but if you look at the facts, they're pretty accurate on who they rate. The % of players that make it to the NFL from 5, 4, 3, 2 star goes from the most, 5, to the least, 2. So it is a pretty good gauge of seeing where that player is going to go. Its not always accurate, sometime their is sleepers, like Claiborne I think is going to be a good pick.

Yeah, but Claiborne is not likely to stay a 2 star. Didn't he go up already?

Not very uncommon as you might think. If I recall correctly over 50% of the 1st round of last year's draft were 2 and 3 star prospects. 2 were unranked.

I've said from day one i didnt like bertman's call when he hired miles.Especially with a guy like butch davis out there. We have to understand one thing LSU had more than enough talent to win the west this year. The problem is that now miles has to actually coach the defensive schemes are ridiculos news flash mcray cant cover so why play so much man coverage. Our linebackers are horrible. but with a better scheme LSU had enough talent to do what it needed to get the job done on defense. Miles has very much handicapped this team when he made the decision to stay with lee for so long. LSU has got recruit some linebackers NOW. Offensively we should be fine if les will stay out of crowton's way because this is not his offense we are seeing. If les does'nt ,ake the coaching changes next year things dont turn around. Alleva had better not hesitate to make the change
