How bad will recruiting get hurt with the three losses this season and us getting the prospects remaining that we want and also does the fans unsportsman like conduct and leaving in the middle of the game persuade any of the recruits not to come to LSU because of the way the fans behave....??

I remember when winning one football game at LSU was amazing and never leaving until the very end and that was what a TRUE tiger fan did...just asking...dont get your panties in a bunch..

And if it hurts our recruiting, then someone please explain to me how all of the other schools that don't have really great seasons get all of the top recruits stilll??

Most everyone(including here) picked us to lose 3 games when we got rid of RP. The losses have not been pretty but decisive bowl wins help fade those memories. Also we are currently rated as the #2-3 team as far as our recruiting class now. We still expect several more highly touted recruits to eventually announce and I am usually satisfied if we finish in the Top 10. This year's class should be just fine.

That is what I was kinda thinking, but when you start hearing all of this stuff about our own home grown kids going out of state, it starts to bother me...I live in Sulphur and at the Barbe game there were a few students there that are friends with Janzen and were saying how he has changed his mind...just worries me and now with Rueben Randle and him not sure where he wants to go and Saban talking to these kids that are already committed to LSU just bothers me alot...I think all of the high school coaches from our own state should encourage our kids to stay in the state and promote there own schools in state instead of going out of state, especially if in state schools want them....just an opinion...

Did it hurt Texas last year?

Did it hurt Florida last year?

Did it hurt Georgia on its down year?

That is your answer. Every program goes through a "down" year. Fortunately for LSU, losing 3 games is very much a down year for us, most programs would dream of a season like that. So I guess in a sense, it could hurt with some prospects but when you finish with a top 5 class, not much to get upset about. Its not like LSU is going to collapse with a horrible recruiting class.

It certainly doesn't help, but it's not a huge factor. It does affect a few kid's decisions, like a Trent Richardson, but it doesn't change the mind of most recruits.

Thanks for the impute and that is what I thought....I have been involved with LSU for a long time, since in my mom's belly and that was a long time ago....and I have seen the ups and downs of this program, I just hate to see something good that we have gotten in the past decade go away..since really LSU gets no respect in the press and hasn't for many years, but hopefully that will change and hopefully LSU is going to stay a powerhouse for years to come when my kids and my grandkids are going there....

There is not a school in the country that does not have fans leaving early if the game is out of hand or the weather is bad, especially if both are true. LSU does not measure unfavorably in crowd support, in fact we are famous for it.

LSU is going to finish 10-3 or 9-4. That is not a losing season. We have more national championships in this century than any school in the country. We have nearly the most wins in that period, too. Even our down years without trophies have produced double-digit wins under Les.

Any recruit that backs off LSU because of one game (that we won!) where fans left early or because LSU is not going to win a championship this year despite 10 wins . . . isn't bright enough to play at LSU.

:geaux::crystal::helmet: Alabama finished 7 - 6 last year and still had the #1 recruiting class in the country according to most sources, so losing a few games is not a catastrophe. Agree with previous posts that it may affect a couple of decisions but for the most part we'll have a great class, quite possbibly top 5. I think kids will see an opportunity to come in and contribute early. We'll be OK. :geauxtige:champs::LSU231:

The problem with these comparisons that people keep making to the ALA's and Oklahoma's is that they do not take into account the perception that a recruit may have of whether a program is on the rise or descent. When ALA went 7-6 last year, they also were in the first year of a respected head coach who can recruit like the wind and has already won the NC; hence, high expectations led to a strong recruiting class. When Okla. has been down in the past, they have rebounded well in subsequent seasons over an 8-10 year stretch, thus reinforcing to a recruit that level of confidence and expectations. What some are fearful of regarding LSU, I believe, is that if we begin to dwindle on the field that it leads to dwindling in recruiting (I am not saying we are dwindling, but that is what some are fearful of), that it will be a return to the Archer-Hallman-Dinardo days. I think many are still shellshocked from those years and don't want a return to that despite the fact that we have won 2 NCs in a five year stretch, and that CLM has had more wins at this point of his LSU career than any other coach. Certainly, just our present recruiting class is outstanding, and we are not finished, so all will be fine!!! Just saying, people are still iffy about it all, and when big time recruits that were seriously considering us then come out and say they are not committing to LSU a week after a near debacle (that ultimately ended up being a historic comeback), it makes for uneasiness.
