Pretty much. Back to the tailgating thing, if you haven't ever done it and you have a reason to, then by all means do. We do it here like nowhere else.
I am in no way saying this as an excuse for what happened on saturday. but personally i always thought the recruiting star system was way overrated. 3 star recruits win heismans. 3 star defensive players go in the first round ALOT. Developing the player is what realy matters.
We understand the concept as you do too that stars don't really mean all that much. Jacob Hester or Clay Mathews ring anybody's bell. The point was that the Media and your coach saying ya lost because a lot of NFL talent left is just stupid, especially at this point in the season.
We have a reputation of being ungracious hosts and with the exception of some isolated incidents caused by *********s which every fan base has or those with thin skins that can't take good natured ribbing, nothing could be further from the truth. As for '03, it does suck that there was no way to settle it on the field and the NC was split. You had that awesome offense and we had the best defense in the nation. It would've been a classic match up. You make a good point about the AP trophy, but we feel ours is more credible because: a) In addition to the BCS trophy, we were also presented with the MacArthur trophy, which has been awarded to the 'recognized' National Champion since 1959 b) We had 2 common opponents that year (AU and AZ) and had a larger margin of victory against both. I realize this is subjective, but when you don't play each other, this is really the only measuring stick available c) Although we did have a couple of directional schools on our schedule, we played and defeated more ranked opponents then you did. If memory serves, I believe USC only played one top 25 team that year, compared to six for LSU. Of those 6, 3 were top 10.
