I heard somewhere that with the new SEC TV Deal that all of the SEC Football games will be televised. Is this true ? If so I wonder if we will see more Day games in Tiger Stadium because of this. I like the idea of all games on TV but hope that most of the games will still be at night.
Half of our conference games are already day games every year. I can't really see it getting any worse than that. At least I hope not.
as for morning games I don't think we have to worry about Georgia,Florida,Auburn,Alabama or Ole Miss. I think Vandy, Miss State and Arkansas could be possible for morning. I think Auburn and Florida will probably be night but Georgia, Alabama and Ole Miss could be day for sure. The only real night game I think is for sure is Florida.
The new deal with ESPN guarantees that all SEC football games will be televised. Games that are not televised by CBS will be on the ESPN family of networks. I expect this to mean a lot of games can be seen on ESPNU as well as ESPN/ESPN2. I believe they have the right to broadcast some games on the premium package, but ESPNU will no longer be premium as it will take the place of Classic in basic packages. As far as kickoff times, my feeling is that the deal is more likely to mean more nighttime games than less, especially on ESPNU. ESPN will also have an "SEC Weekly" show air on ESPNU, which will be part of its SEC Gameday network coverage. The SEC really got an amazing deal when they signed with ESPN. ESPN really sold out in attempt to secure SEC TV rights (over 5,500 SEC events will be broadcast over the next 15 years). I think the deal far exceeds the exposure of an in-house network. I realize you didn't ask for some of this info but hopefully others will find it useful.
Teams that can't fill their stadiums are going to have even worse problems now. Auburn still has season tickets available!
Good Info. What about non conference games ? We know that Washington is going to be televised. What about ULL,Tulane, La Tech ? Any chance ESPN will pick any of those games up ?
Here's my breakdown of televised SEC football. More of the details will become clearer during SEC Media Daze. CBS: Minimum of 14 games. ESPN and ESPN2: Minimum of 20 games, including Saturday night games and two primetime Thursday games. ESPNU: Minimum of 13 games, most in primetime. ESPN Regional Television (ERTV): Minimum of 13 games, kickoff at 11:21 a.m. CSS x 8. Like baseball, there may be some overlap with Cox Sports. FSN South x 7, most slated for 6 to 6:30 p.m. ESPN Classic: May show select SEC live games. Any other games will be on PPV, each team can host only 1 PPV game per year. That's every SEC home game, conference or non conference. Every game... ESPN GamePlan will show CSS, ESPN Regional, FSN, and PPV games outside of the local broadcast areas. ESPN 360 will have for free whatever is on any ESPN network including ESPN GamePlan.
Bad news for LSU fans: Louisiana is in the FSN Southwest network, so we may be seeing Texas-Baylor instead of an SEC game each week (I would assume that if LSU were playing, regional coverage would take over.)
Same as basketball, the SEC-TV footprint covers the entire conference. FSN South is the host. Sunshine Sports on satellite can also show the games. On cable only in Louisiana, Arkansas, and Texas FSN Southwest can pick up the FSN South broadcast. Same as it ever was for FSN / SEC-TV. http://www.secsports.com/img/sectv_coverage_map.jpg
