Its absolutely ridiculous to call for another QB. Mett made one bad pass, had one tipped ball, and had one come off his hand wrong. We had half a dozen or more dropped passes that hit guys in the hands. We had a nonexistent running game. And yoy guyswant to bench the only guy on offense that made plays? Go kill yourselves.

Rivers offers NOTHING Mett doesnt have except even less experience.

Dane, the only reason anyone is calling for a new qb is no slight on Mettenberger, it's because this uber vanilla offense is best suited for a running quarterback.

Well, since our QB's seem to run for their life a lot either because of poor blocking, poor reads by the QB himself(CB Blitz never even looked at) poor communication and busted plays, we would be better off with a QB that has athletic ability to evade and make plays with his legs. If we had one, no question we would better than (1-13) on 3rd down, 3rd and 3's would be easier to convert. I have been hesitant to be critical of Mett, but truth be told, he himself has a lot of work to do

It may just be that we need a new receiver coach. The receivers have let Mettenberger down badly. Not one of our top-5 receivers is dependably sure-handed nor do they seem to have the technique to get themselves open, even with defenses playing 8 in the box to stuff the run. It's not lack of athletic talent.

Likewise, the offensive line has serious issues and only Studrawa can be held accountable. Those who were quick to blame Dworaczyk got to see him benched and an O-line that played far worse. We have no on that can play left tackle and moving Hurst from right tackle and playing a freshman only made us weak at both tackles. We have to develop some depth here. Why was no one prepared to back up Faulk? Losing Williford exposed another position where the backup couldn't cut it. Clearly Dworasczyk must return to the line, some another one or two reserve linemen has to step it up a notch. It would help if they had a full-time offensive line coach.

Mostly agree, but the reason we don't have a running game is that we still don't have a passing game.

Dont forget we have no TE either.

BTW: this is my last post on this madness until, The Good, Bad, and Ugly comes out.

Our receivers have not been great for a while. In part that has been because of poor QB play. But I seem to remember dropsies last year and the year before and the year before. I'm all for switching out WR coach, they have been terrible. BUT... without a more dynamic passing attack, I don't blame WR coach as much as whoever has gotten into our QBs' heads for years - I am afraid Miles is to blame. Mettenberger has obviously been coached to not screw up.

Of course, it has gotten Miles a historic number of wins, so there is probably something to that line of thinking. Maybe a mix of letting the QB play and managing his screw ups, more skewed to the free play than we currently are, is what is needed.

All quarterbacks are coached to do likewise. Top priority is not to throw the game away, after that comes putting the ball effectively into the hands of the playmakers, then . . . they can put on a Superman cape, be faster than a speeding bullet, leap tall buildings in a single bound . . .

Excellent point. Why not play Randall or Bolden a bit, just to have a different look. Of course, then we have a QB controversy. :D

We already have an offense controversy, so why not change up the QB? Agree w/perhaps trying a mobile QB option given the OL issues.
