Don't act like last year didn't have cream puffs too. If last years QBs were head and shoulders way better than Mett the stats would show it. Compare the stats last year against our 5 weakest teams and Metts numbers are still on par or better so far this year.

Stop hating on a dude just because he wasn't the second coming of Jesus.

What were Lee's stats after only 5 games as a starter?

Lee always put up yardage...it was the interceptions that held him back.

Quite simply 1076 \5 then mulTipled by 14 = 3012 yards and all this negative attention from our fan base is not helping him so let's chill no qb ever started playing better when his own fans were telling him he sucks

First. I never said I was Jesus. Can you read or are you simply skimming and arguing with anyone that doesn't say Mett sucks? Second, you're wrong. Mett stats are better in multiple areas compared to Lee through 5 games last year. And I liked Lee.

I think Mett's stats would be even better if he had an Oline that was worth a crap.

I'm sorry ... some of you are beating up on the wrong guy. Mett has some serious potential, but it'll never be materialized as long as our pass protection consistently let's D players through to the pocket at full speed.

I think Lee had the same problem last year in the Bama game. The pocket is just colapsing too fast.

No way Lee performs like last year with the protection issues this team has had. Lee also had Ruben Randle. Just look at what happen to Lee and JJ in the pros, cut early in pre-season camp. Mett has the tools to be a much better QB than either Lee or JJ. But he has to improve on recognizing a blitz and his movement in the pocket. That will come with experience.

Not always. Mett is responsible for picking up unblocked blitzers and throwing the ball to the uncovered zone or throwing it away. That ain't a line responsibility. Mett gets sacked often because of his own poor pocket presence and holding on to the ball too long. The line can only protect him for a few seconds. Mettenberger has to make quicker decisions and quit trying to extend plays.

I just wanna say that Lee made it through all of preseason and actually lead SD in QB production through 4 games. He was only cut when the final cuts were made and that's because SD decided to only keep 2 QBs on roster. He actually played better than Rivers backup but the backup has been in the system longer and that's most likely why he got the nod.
