Agreed, but I don't think they agree. I don't think they have a plan B. I don't think they imagine a scenario when someone puts up a few scores on Chavis' defense unless the offense starts throwing pics and not completing passes and keeps the D on the field all game. Their gameplan in the red zone is to come away with at least 3, and play it as safe as possible and not turn the ball over. It's very conservative, but I think you hit the nail on the head with those 2 plays, at some point we are going to have to let him throw down there and why not call plays that cater to what ZM is good at. Outs, screens, check downs, and back shoulder throws.
So Zach throws 4 INTs vs aTm, you want Rivers as our QB vs Bama? First of all, that fade was thrown to Nic Jacobs who is 6-5...the tallest person in the South Carolina secondary is 6-0 And second of all, Zach is #36 nationally and #4 in the SEC with most pass attempts in the red zone (26) behind only Johnny Football (27), Tyler Wilson (30) and Tyler Bray (34) Again, Zach is #36 nationally and #4 in the SEC with most pass attempts in the red zone (26) behind only Johnny Football (27), Tyler Wilson (30) and Tyler Bray (34) Yet again: Again, Zach is #36 nationally and #4 in the SEC with most pass attempts in the red zone (26) behind only Johnny Football (27), Tyler Wilson (30) and Tyler Bray (34) Well let's see, we are in the top tier when it comes to throwing passes in the redzone, giving Zach plenty of attempts...yet after 7 games, he sucks at it...only completing 50% of his attempts in the red zone (#9 in the SEC) with 2 INTs in the redzone (dead last by himself in the SEC), 2 TD in the redzone (#9 in the SEC), and a 81.97 QB rating in the redzone (#11 in the SEC) ...and you two goofballs think we should throw even more in the redzone??? Especially when we averaged 4.9 rushing ypc last game (Hill 7.3) and we are averaging 4.9 rushing ypc for the season (Hilliard 6.1, Hill 6.5, Blue 6.8)???
Miles has had 3 of the greatest college QBs in recent history on his teams: At Oklahoma State, he had Josh Fields, who threw for 3,145 yards and 31 TDs in 2002...he went 1st Round in the MLB Draft At LSU, he had JaMarcus Russell, who threw for 3,129 yards, 28 touchdowns in 2006...he went #1 overall in the NFL Draft And he had the mighty Flynn in 2007, led us to a National Title and is making millions as the only LSU QB in the NFL as for LSU now, our QB coach is Krag. He took over last year. Too early to tell if he sucks or not, but i do wish we had a guy with a better resume (like Auburn has now for ex, or like Florida had last year with Charlie Weis)
Yes that's exactly right, I want LSU to turn into West Virginia in the red zone and sling it all over the place. I think it's obvious that in the red zone LSU should run the football. But if we get stopped and put in 3rd and long, are we just supposed to run on 3rd and 5 plus every time or maybe try a safe throw? But if you think a called jump pass and a fade to a tight end are quality plays then who is the goofball? Eventually, the time is going to come where 3 points isn't gonna mean shit. What then? 4 straight runs?
Look, you're a nice guy, but when it comes to football it is very shocking how you are basically a complete moron. It really is astonishing how dumb all your football related posts are. i mean unbelievably retarded dumb. It really is amazing how one person can be such a moron when it comes to football and not realize it. And i swear to God, it is every one of your posts.Constant idiot post after idiot post after idiot post when it comes to football. I've never seen anybody so consistent when it comes to posting such absolutely retarded opinions about any subject
If that fade was to Jacobs then I stand corrected. From where I was standing it looked like he had a receiver split out for thet play. I never said we don't throw enough in the red zone. I said the coaches are not putting him in the best position to succeed with the plays called in that part of the field.
I agree. Miles is not a QB friendly coach. Which makes me wonder: Why would a highly touted high school quarterback ever consider going to LSU? (and don't say for the hot chicks and cajun food!)
It's obviously for the hot chicks and Cajun food... I was thinking about this very thing this morning. QB development under Miles is a definite weakness. Then, I thought about it for a minute and asked myself if I would prefer the QB being developed, but other positions not being. In short, Miles develops lots of players on both sides of the ball, and all things being equal, I would prefer the defensive players development over a Johnny Football. I would like better QB play, and I think Mett will get better. And I know it makes people sick because if we had good QB play, imagine how dominant we'd be. As for blaming Miles being conservative in the red zone with Mett (though that's kinda been disproven), I wouldn't blame JL for making Miles gunshy this year; I would blame Mett for the several interceptions he's thrown there. Hence, the timid behavior now when we are down there. I'd rather work to pound it in more than we have in the red zone, but maybe throw a bit when we're around the 15.
personally I think the offensive line and the wr's have not helped mett at all, but make no mistake about it, mett is a statue in the pocket, not mobile at all, he does not look good reading his progressions, and the coaching staff sending out one and two man pass routes tell me that he does not come off intial reads well.
I think he'll get better with more experience, but as other's have said, his wideouts haven't done him any favors with all the drops. I know his completion % should be a lot higher then it is right now.
