It's all good brother. I watched some of the game again late last night.
On that overthrow to Toliver, I got to put at least some blame on TT.
He stopped his route for a second, then realized Lee was throwing Deep to him, and he sped up again, but it was too late.

Had he kept running, it may have still been overthrown, but it would have been a lot closer and not looked as bad.

With an accurate pass however, that was a TD.

I think he deserves a big part of the credit, but the fact is the entire team looked flat, and the defensive calls got into the game late, again. Our boys looked so confused in the first half and that is depressing to me.

Regardless of who our opponent was, that comeback was near impossible and was not a fluke. I would have bet against Lee running 5-6 scoring drives without an interception, but somehow he managed. I think seeing the offense run from the sidelines and being able see the whole defense must have really helped him. In retrospect, hasn't his play deteriorated since Hatch got hurt and he got no breaks in the game?

I hope JJ can run a few plays/series in the next games and we can have similar positive results.

I agree completely. It helped too that Toliver and Lafell turned into monsters in the second half. There were several times where they were open and were over thrown. Had Lee connected, his numbers would be even more impressive.

And about LSU coming out flat, it is frustrating, but it seems to be a trend with Miles. I like Miles, but he tends to come out flat, make adjustments at the half, and then either make a comeback or just play better. I wish LSU would play a full 60 minute game like Florida has almost all season. LSU is definitely a second half team, and I would rather have a good second half team than a good first half team (although having both would be nice).

not a trend with miles; just the opposite. its a characteristic of this team particularly and it seems to be due to lack of leadership. lafell and lee seemed to take a step in correcting that problem saturday night.

maintaining it and getting this team to follow is another story.

This occurred to me during the Alabama game, when he was obviously rattled and couldn't get off the field due to lack of an experienced backup. A young player with damaged confidence like himself needs to take a few snaps off and regroup, sometimes. JJ's emergence as a steady enough option may be what we needed to finish off this season strong and get favorable recognition going into next season.

In 2005 and 2006, the team's propensity to outscore opponents in the first quarter was well-documented. I'm like Tirk...I think this depends on the personnel more than the coaching.

I couldn't remember that being the case, so I checked the stats to see. I thought I could remember somewhere that LSU had outscored their opponents in the first QTR by a crazy amount. Anyway, here's what I found:

    '05 Season: 172 1st HLF Points | 202 2nd HLF Points
    '06 Season: 240 1st HLF Points | 192 2nd HLF Points
    '07 Season: 199 1st HLF Points | 284 2nd HLF Points

    3 Seasons: 611 1st HLF Points | 684 2nd HLF Points

Take those figures and the total number of games played (41) divide that by the points scored you get:

An Average over 3 Seasons of: 14.9 1st HLF Points | 16.7 2nd HLF Points.

Being fair and rounding it to 15 and 17, you're still looking at only a 2 point difference between 1st half performance and 2nd half performance. Hardly enough to call it a "trend".

Heck, wasn't it LSU fans who were saying that "give Miles a few weeks and he can gameplan better than anyone"? Due to his performances against Miami, Notre Dame, and Ohio State in Bowl games?

I'm in that camp--the results speak for themselves--though we got off to a really slow start against OSU last year.

Interesting, we scored 24 points in the first half on OSU, compared to 14 in the second half.

If by "slow start" you mean, 1 QTR then yes. But that was mainly due to Chris Wells breaking that 1 long run (rest of the night he was shut down).
