Won't or can't???? If Jefferson comes in and shows be it against Tulame that he is head and sholders above Lee you dont think that the balance of plays will shift to Jefferson against Bama?
That would be neither. Hatch "showed it" against Georgia with one pass across the middle to Byrd. Did he replace Lee for the rest of the game? How about RP last year whenever he made a throw for a touchdown? Or how about when he played the whole game? SECCG? Jefferson won't either just because he makes a good pass to someone. It is doubtful that Jefferson has a better grasp of the offense(talents notwithstanding), than Lee after three months of being the #3 QB. Although if he makes even one decent pass, I am sure the eternal fans of the backup QB will scream loud and long for that very thing. But Miles will play the guy that he thinks can win the game for him. Really doesn't come down to more than that, and I don't believe we have any evidence that Jefferson is better.
I'm not talking about 1 or 3 passes or even td passes. I said "HEAD and SHOULDERS" above Lee's play. And I mean that in all aspects. Better control of the offense, better ability to read defenses, more control of himself in the pocket/backfield. I am aware that just coming in for a few brillant sparkes isnt gonna do it, but if Jefferson turns in a performance that he was recruited to do, how can you not look at getting him more snaps. Grant this is gonna be against Tulane so we have to look at both of them on a curve and the real test will come against Bama.
I don't see JJ becoming the #1 qb this year, not to say he doesn't have the talent. I'm glad he will get the experience this year and I believe it will go a long way in his potential for next year. I appreciate what Hatch has done this year and hate that he's injured. That said I am looking forward to seeing more of JJ. This could potentially be the longest thread ever on TF.
Possibly the Longest in the Den, but I know of at least 3 in the Roundtable that this one will not even come close to.
He's the number one recruit in the nation according to ESPN. Deserves a serious look, don't you think?
