So Lee is still the second coming in your mind? You have to give this kid some blame. Lets think about the mental implications on the entire team, when a QB, throws a pick for a touchdown on the first play of the game. You are right we have other problems and most of them on defense. But I want you to be real and try to continue to defend Lee with a straight face. I saw 1 dropped pass. The rest is on him as far as the offensive problems. The offensive line played lights out in my mind, Herman, Hitt, Black, and Helms pulling on running play setting key blocks. Hell even Barksdale, set a hell of a block on a key run by Scott. Just be real with me at least about your thoughts on Lee.

Ok I read some of your post, you do give him some flack, but I do disagree with your assessment on the defense. They are making alot of mistakes, but they gave the offense alot of chances yesterday.

The defense played like Lee....all or nothing. Dr. Jekkel and Mr. Hyde. The problem is that Scott, Hatch, KW, LaFell, etc., can make up for Lee's bad play. Who will cover the slack left behind by the D?

Lee is a problem, but we can work around that. The offense is still one of the tops in the league. The defense is the real issue.

Any time a team scores 38 points, they should win the game. Our defense concerns me more than our offense--but I, too, am really tired of a pick six (or two) a game.

    That game was super-frustrating.

Never claimed he was the second coming so just argue points that I have actually made, ok? The offense scored 38 points and still lost. The defense forced a total of 5 punts and no turnovers. However, they did manage to get ripped repeatedly. What is the offense supposed to do? Score 50 points/game? Is this the Big 12 now? How easily you forget the points scored on us by Auburn and MSU. Two teams that couldn't score at the bunny ranch with $5k in their hands. The defense has been an increasing problem and expecting a RSF QB to outscore everyone is ridiculous.

I also continue to see people try to reduce the game to his interceptions and points scored from turnovers. Why do you get to keep the rest of the game in a vacuum? Why can't you isolate the defense, or special teams as well? The answer is because you can't. It's all part of the game. His poor play hurts us but his good play more than tips the scale for the offense and allows us to score points.

As to last Saturday, I think he had a poor game, and said so, but I do not agree that he is untalented or unable to improve. You throw a freshman in this conference and this is what you get. How quickly people forget performances by none other than JaMarcus in his last year(junior and first pick in the draft). Seemed like he helped keep teams around with his "poor passes, and unintelligent play" repeatedly. The stats are easy to find so don't deny it.

The difference on his team, was JR had a defense that supported him, and allowed us to win the game.

Our defense is not doing this:

    1) 11th in points/game
    2) 8th in yards/game
    3) 12th in interceptions
    4) 10th in pass defense
    5) 11th in fumbles recovered
    6) 11th in scoring defense
    7) 9th in total defense

Conversely our offense is getting it done:

    1) fewest fumbles lost
    2) 3rd in passing offense
    3) 3rd in passing efficiency
    4) 3rd in rushing offense
    5) 3rd in scoring offense
    6) 2nd in total offense

Our turnover margin is awful and it's not because we are turning the ball over too much, it's because we are not getting any turnovers.
In turnovers given, we are only 5th and were 3rd before last Saturday. In turnovers forced, we are dead last.

Now you tell me, with the numbers laid out for all to see, who is to blame? The RSF QB(who deserves some blame), or the non-existent defense? The numbers don't lie.

    Spin that.

You seem to be the one who is spinning and getting personal. So thats cool with me, we can take it there. The second coming was a joke. However, after reading all of that, you criticized Lee in one sentence the entire post, thats spin for you. Then you go bring up JR for a comparison, but I dont see you defending him, like you are defending Lee. You criticize JR, to defend Lee? I dont agree with that all. The defense has problems. They have problems in coverage and tackling. However, they gave the offense alot of chances. 7 straight incompletions, 3 picks, and a number of bad decisions. You cant spin that. You want to say he can improve and yes I believe he can I have stated that. But we are talking about right now, the present. In a game, when you throw a pick for a touchdown on the first play. I put that on the quarterback, our defense had nothing to do with that. Because guess what, when they took the field we were already down a score. So you can continue the thought that, " its our defenses' fault when we lose, but its our great qb play when we win".
Lee has a good future ahead of him, but right now imo, he is the reason we lost that game. The offense scored 38 points and most of that came from the running game driving the ball down the field.

Exactly JR, made alot of bad mistakes, definitely in the 2006 Florida game. One of the worst I have seen from him. I think Dude is right, JR had a better defense to back him up. Our defenses main problem is playcalling and missed assignments. We have the talent on D, but its the same problem with the QB, inexperience. However, the game against South Carolina, we had a different mindset, we went after Garcia, we didnt go after Stafford as much or not enough, imo. Stafford is probably the best QB in the SEC, yes better than Tebow imo, with less talent around him.

This is were I think I differ with everyone that has posted. JR was inexperience, I think with Lee this is just how he plays. Granted it we wont know this until sometime next year if he is even the starter.
