Its not their fault that they have no one else.......or maybe it is... I mean RP was doing those things LONG before he got to LSU so I guess it is the coaches fault for putting the hopes of the team on him. And with the apparrent *cough, cough* injury to Jefferson and Hatch not having the arm to play in the SEC, Lee is all we got. Doesnt change my opinion.
I feel that he has now had 5 weeks to correct the timing issues in practice and has not done so. So yeah I think the problem is in his mechanics.
Good way to win people over to your way of thinking. Way to break up my off basis "theories" with the amazing facts. Care to claim that Lee messed up 80% of his passes again this week? That was good for a laugh. This whole thread needs to be reset because we're getting off base and it's very close to break out into a flame war. Let me also say, if you thought this thread was old and boring, why are you still posting here Crip? it seems like now you're comments are only trying to stir up trouble instead of doing, well, anything else. This whole thread started out as, "Why aren't we playing JJ. Lee sucks." Try and refute it all you want, but when you boil it down, that's what this thread was. Heck the title is Quarterback Change. The only thing that I've done is use stat after stat, and REASONABLE logic to show that Lee has played (while definitely making mistakes) a lot better than we could have asked for out of a 1st year starter. I as well as other people have shown how many great QB's started off just like Lee (if not worse). We've also tried to keep the doom and gloomers from jumping off the ledge at the thought that we have no QB. Tangible, verifiable stats show Lee is a lot better than some people believe. I am simply one that believes our QB position is not where our biggest problem is. It's our Defensive backfield. I'm also of the belief that no QB we have no roster would have played any better, or made the throws Lee has made so far. Good or bad, right or wrong, Lee is our best QB and if someone believes playing JJ would have caused us to win the Florida game, or would have caused us to win the USCe game by more ,then I"m sorry but they're wrong. Plain, wrong. Maybe in a year or two JJ will be the man. He certainly has the credinituals but credinituals don't necessarily transfer over to success. Instead of dreaming about "what ifs", please accept the facts. And instead of trying to bash a freshman QB for the few throws he's messed up on, why not look at the many throws that he's been dead on accurate on? The one thing I hate about tiger fans (and this could go to any sports team I suppose) is how quickly they turn on the starter. J.Marc was suppose to be "the MAN", then when he wasn't playing well people were in an uproar for Flynn to start, and when Flynn beat RP for the starting job, everytime Flynn messed up people were questioning if maybe RP should start. We've been through this same song and dance for years, and people have ALWAYS been wrong on it. I realize that it's a "grass is always greener" sentiment but, please, sit down and really think things through before you bash a 3 time starter after he's won 2 of those games for us. I mean really, 189 yards, 61.5% comp, 1 int and they won the game. LSU didn't even lose and people still think Lee is an unfit QB. *sigh*
Most people before and at the beginning of the season only wanted a quarter back that would not lose games. Two questions; Do you think Lee is, or will lose games for us through the remaining season? You have stated that we will lose three of the next five, is this your justification for bringing out Jefferson to get reps and start looking forward to next year? I am hung in the middle of this thread cause there are great points for both sides of the debate. What I believe is that after Georgia, this thread could last forever. I do believe with all of the young talent at this position, the rotating QB game plan will remain.
Here is where we differ. According to all accounts, he is amazing in 7 on 7 drills. Which means when he has time, and has to think of ONLY pitch and catch, he's accurate. This tells me it's not his mechanics. His decision making isn't happening quick enough.
Are you retarded or do you not have a handle on reading written words? I HAVE SAID IN A NUMBER OF POST, I DONT CARE WHAT OTHER PEOPLE THINK AND I AM NOT TRYING TO WIN PEOPLE/CONVINCE/CHANGE ANYONE'S MIND TO THINK LIKE ME! I have stated my opinion on this matter and I am done with it until Lee has had a chance to either PROVE Himself or wind up in the gutter! Any further post I make here are simply to get under your skin! Please get your hundered post in for the year and then go crawl off to where it is you hide!BUH BYE Have a Nice Day! When Lee does prove to be a wash please feel free to come back so we can open this discussion back up!
I think that IF we have to relie on LEE to win the games against UGA, Bama, and Ole Miss I just dont see him being able to do it! No the whole thing about Jefferson was I thought he should see alot of playing time against S. Carolina....IN THE EVENT THAT HE MIGHT BE BETTER (people seem to miss that point, they see QB change in the title and just lose it) This was also BEFORE I learned of his injury. I have accepted the fact that this is the BEST LSU can do this year for QB, but that does not change how I view his game play! You said HUNG I think the ONLY way for us to win is to have them rotate. Together they make a whole QB!
When the game slows down to him he will not feel the need to hurry throws or prematurely find a target. Who knows when this will happen, it's different for every QB...sometimes it takes a short time, somtimes a year, sometimes it takes more than a year. Half the time he throws off the wrong foot it's not due to bad mechanics or skiddishness, it's because that's how he times throws...it's a lot of times easier to get your timing and rhythm on a throw doing this on the shorter passes than to plant and throw relatively flat footed (by the time you do set and throw the guy is no longer open or the play is gone). When things are happening all around you and people are trying to kill you, you do what you have to do get the ball out...and if he feels comfortable doing that then so be it - QBs in the NFL do this every single week.
61% completion for the season, only 2 freshmen or redshirt freshmen in the nation have a higher efficiency rating (and completion %) (Boise St. and Baylor QBs). He's either the best 'bad passer' to ever exist (in the SEC no less), or your evaluation (or expectations) of him are off.
Let's see... in 2006, as a first time starter, McCoy passed for 2570 yards, 68.7% with 29 TDs and only 7 INTs. That's not great? Good God. How many screens were thrown, not to mention ones that went nowhere? We'd all have 60% completion percentage if we threw dink and dunk screens as much as he has. If anyone is willing to, find out his percentage past 5-10+ yards, and look at his percentage up to 5 yards and get back to us. I have a bad feeling that those who are defending Lee to the Hilt were Josh Booty fans. I think he'll be pretty solid in a couple of years, but he's no where close right now.
