The stakes were simply too high to chance it. As it turns out, going with JJ was the right call. I said it in another thread, but it bears repeating. We will not see another defense the likes of what we BEAT tonight. It's all good.
I think Lee was trying to prove himself to the fans and seek redemption in this big game. He pushed a bit , and hence made mistakes..............Actually he does not need to do that as he already has in leading this team to this point this season. He should have stayed the course he has been on up to this point, and he should be fine. Hope he learns and bounces back. This team still needs him, and JJ. I was going crazy when I saw hanging onto the ball too long several times and getting sacked. But I have to thank JJ for getting some key plays in that allowed the tieing FG.
Can't argue with that as we win the game. I am aware that the stakes were too high at that moment to take the risk of being picked again. I guess I was just hoping to see JLEE getting to redeem himself and win the game for us in a less ugly manner instead of being forced to sit out the rest of the game.
No, Lee was pulled for throwing 2 straight interceptions. Pretty obvious IMO I believe Lee should remain the starter and Jefferson should keep coming off the bench. Lee gives us the best chance to get the ball to the playmakers on the outside (Randle, Beckham, Shepard,..) and that's the only way our offense will reach its potential. Lee made a couple of bad throws/decisions, but he has been very good this year. Our offense will regress under Jefferson as the full time QB.
I like the 2-QB system, and I think Lee taking most of the snaps with JJ coming in as a changeup is the better option. For this game, though, the mistakes had to be kept to a minimum, and since JL threw interceptions on two consecutive plays, we had to go with JJ. I think that was a good call last night. I hope we go back to what we were winning with before, since we're not going to face another team like Bama this season. I kind of have a feeling that JJ takes back his job after yesterday.
And he also looked like he had a handle on executing passes. Jarrett looked really tentative, and that took me back a few years when I wasn't sure who was going to come up with the ball when Lee put it up. Hopefully he'll bounce back next week.
There was one point in the fourth qtr where it was third and long, JJ had played every down since the second pick, and I thought it would have been a good spot to put JL back there for just one play and let him chunk it. Thought it would have caught Bama off guard, and if successful, not only would have helped secure the game, but give JL some momentum/confidence boost for later. Instead, JJ ran into the line and we punted. Missed opportunity, I thought. Agree with others, will probably still see both a lot, irregardless of who "starts".
